I didn’t make any judgements but I am not interested in watching a show about people making drugs or whatever

Breaking Bad is clearly in a class by itself as far as TV shows go. Walking Dead is fun to watch, but ludicrous. Sons of Anarchy, also fun, but it’s a soap opera with motorcycles. The Sopranos was a great show, but had two entire seasons that were forced on top like hats that didn’t match the outfit.

The closest show to Breaking Bad, IMO, was The Shield, but even that couldn’t touch what Breaking Bad is pulling off.

Ope and Dawn’s deaths, yeah, I had to look away.

Not so much because of the gore factor but the underlying psychology of them.

[how many people here even remember “Halfsack”?]

;D

I love the people who go on threads about Facebook to proudly declare that they don't use Facebook, like there's nobility in that or something.

I've never used Twitter or MySpace, but I don't really consider my non-use of those websites to be an accomplishment to brag about.

Superficially.

As Bernard Marx said, "Anyone who’s read Sophocles, Aeschylus or Euripides has known from the first season how the show would eventually unwind. It’s classic Greek tragedy. Walt suffers from the tragic flaw the Greeks called “hubris.” Kudos to Gilligan and crew for never shrinking from the terrible logic of Walt’s demise."

It’s not about the drugs.

It’s about what greed does to “good” people.

The drugs could have been substituted by any other product.

There’s a lot of crime behind bootleg designer handbags but who would watch a show about a guy who makes fake Guccis?

I read the first half of this article, and basically it said nothing. So I didn’t bother to read the second half.

Yep, me too.

Find the the X-File episode called “Drive”.

He is great in that and I think it was the first time I saw him in anything.

It is a remake of Dr Faustus.

One of Costanza’s bosses plays on The Bridge. I recognized his voice immediately. The one where George inserted his pic into a framed photo.

I haven’t seen it, but when some fan of the show says it’s the greatest thing since frosted flakes, some people might take exception. Don’t expect people not to respond when some person says he just saw the greatest thing ever. It’s a natural response to pooh pooh anything claimed to be the greatest whatever.

Then why did you bother posting to this thread?

Because you thought we'd care that you aren't interested in the show and hardly watch television anymore?

You have way too much idle time on your hands. Maybe you should get a job or a hobby or something.

Breaking Bad is one of the best shows on TV.

The Walking Dead is the best show on TV.

Hell on Wheels — awesome

AMC transformed itself from a channel indistinguishable from TCM into the powerhouse of Scripted TV.

“Immoral and Amoral characters. Gory violence. Meaningless sex and nudity. Lots and lots of foul language.”

Yes, most of the characters are portrayed as immoral, scared out of their minds, struggling to deal with their situations, and failing, badly. It does not glamorize the immorality at all.

It does have gory violence, but it isn’t the centerpiece. In fact, the show has very little of it. But when it does, it often involves braniac chemistry, which is part of the show’s appeal.

No nudity, very little sexuality.

Some foul language, but mostly from the depraved youths. And when the adults use it, it’s in high-tension situations.

So there’s some of what you suspect, but there’s just so much more to the show that can’t be described in words. It’s worth seeing with your own eyes.
