I remember reading a similar story about a Japanese man way back in the early 1980s. The story was in a now-defunct science and sci-fi magazine called “Omni”. I took it with a sizable grain of salt (Omni wasn’t always the most reliable magazine on the science fact side of things), but it appears that it really can happen.
