Help! Somehow the task bar jumped to the top of the computer screen. Yes, I'm logged in. Yes, I know how to move the task bar around - right click, unlock task bar and move it. Problem is when I move it back to the bottom, it leaves an empty space where it was at the top and is ghosty when it's back at the bottom (the background shows through it). So, I clicked it back to the top and back down again and now the second problem... the internet screen is getting smaller and smaller. Each time I move the task bar from the top, the 1/2" it was using stays there showing a 1/2" of the desk top. Move the task bar a second time and it's 1" of desk top showing at the top and less readable internet screen. Move it a third time and it's 1.5" of desktop showing and 1.5" less readable screen. Rinse and repeat. Yes, the obvious thing would be to quit moving the task bar (Doc, my arm hurts when I do this - so quit moving your arm). But how the heck do I get my readable part of the screen back to 100%? No, right clicking to get arrows to expand it doesn't work - no arrows appear.
Blow it up and get a Mac. You are driving a donkey, go for a Porsche.
The incredible shrinking screen syndrome
LoL
From orbit. No offense. ...
Mine’s at the bottom
YIPPY! Thanks but cancel the cavalry. Accidently fixed it myself. There’s a little box beside the X delete page that did the trick. A few clicks on it and viola! Sorry, folks. Thanks, everyone. I’m a dummy and admit it.
What’s a task bar?
Right click on the task bar and click the properties. The screen should have a choice of “Task bar location” option.
You think you got troubles? My sister was bit by a moose once.
Several things to try:
First (if you haven’t), turn pc and monitor off for few seconds, then restart.
Two: check your resolution; often if the screen doesn’t fit the monitor, it can be there. Check the hardware section for video card to see if it is okay.
Three: Type “troubleshoot” without quotes, into the search on windows 7. Have it check your hardware too.
Be sure you are using the right way to move the bar in Win7; seems to me it is slightly different than xp or earlier, I could be wrong. Google move taskbar Win7.
My problem with Taskbar at the Bottom is that the mouse pointer has to be aligned with the Taskbar to make a selection. If you are not careful the pointer disappears off the bottom of the screen. That doesn't happen if the Taskbar is at the top. So to make a selection you just jam the mouse to the top of the screen and slide left or right.
This saves me 250 milliseconds per selection. It adds up. ;)
If you’re using Opera or FF, the F11 key resizes to full-screen; I don’t know what IE does, as I don’t use it.
Can you grab the top of browser screen and drag it back up top to full-screen?
See my Post #32. I'll convert you to a "Taskbar at the Top" user.
BTW, my theory is that the Mac used a taskbar at the top and so Bill Gates just put it at the bottom to be different. It makes no sense to put a menu selection type function at the bottom of the screen. Menus are always at the top.
That's the bar you go to, to have a few drinks, before you start working on the task, that requires the use of power tools, that your wife "asked" you to work on.
Are you series?
I used to have it at the top, but really prefer it at the bottom
I would hazard you would never be sent to a reeducation camp. You have been conditioned enough. teehee
I also only have 6 icons on my desktop - 3 on each side close to the bottom so they’re less noticeable. I like seeing my wallpaper
Hey, all. Problem is fixed! Thanks.
