Anybody hear Rand Paul on Hannity today? Rand is going establishement......

Posted on 09/25/2013 5:32:56 PM PDT by teg_76

Today Rand Paul went on Hannity, and Hannity did a great job grilling him. He continually asked why the Republicans can't stand as strong as the Democrats, and Paul just kept saying that the Republicans are not united enough and don't have the leverage. He said he didn't agree with Cruz's strategy and that a government shutdown would be hurtful to the Republican party. It really could have been Mitch McConnell talking...who by the way Rand Paul has already endorsed. Hannity practically hung up on Rand Paul, and that really surprised me because you never hear Hannity treat Republicans that way. I was very proud of how he handled the interview with Rand. I'm really disappointed in how quickly Rand seems to be moving away from the people and into the establishment. Anybody else catch the interview?

Yes and you are right. Sean is going conservative and Rand is going establishment.

Didn't hear it, but that sounds like Rand.

I see some sort of political machinations involving Rand behind the scenes. Definitely smells like McConnell. All the more reason to really push Matt Bevin for senate. I read that a couple of Tea Party groups that had previously endorsed McConnell may withdraw their endorsements. The Madison Project is fully behind Bevin.

So why is Nappyhead stabbing Cruz in the back now, after praising him on the Senate floor?

I’m not surprised, really. Paul is an amnesty supporter, after all; he and Cruz are cut from different cloths.

He’s being political, not surprising given his profession.

The first statement you quote is the plain simple truth. Republicans aren’t united and they don’t have the leverage. That’s not even debatable. Critiquing Cruz’s tactics just sounds like a difference of opinion as to how the republicans should proceed. That doesn’t mean Paul doesn’t share the ultimate goal with Cruz. As for the McConnell endorsement, I hadn’t heard that but if that’s correct it sounds like politics aimed at a 2016 endorsement and support for his nomination. Sordid perhaps but what part of politics isn’t?

I heard Hannity talking to John Cornyn, who kept talking in circles. I didn’t hear Rand Paul on with him though.

the big problem with freepers and conservatives in general is that EVERYBODY has to be in lockstep with your own personal thinking or they're excommunicated....

freepers did it to Rubio....Now Rand.....Cruz better watch his step or he'll get pigeon holed as well...

Paul has committed to voting with Cruz on cloture, as a side note.

I heard it while driving and flipping through the stations. Figuring it was just going to be more of the same from Hannity, I was about to hit “next”, then realized he was actually asking penetrating questions of someone and was being persistent in getting an explanation. I listened more and found out it was Paul. I was pleasantly surprised at Hannity.

Rubio pigeon holed Rubio.

Standing with Chuckie Schumer is self-immolation.

I did not hear the interview either and I am no great study of Rand Paul, but the arrogant, establishment affliction is contagious inside the beltway. He sounded strong and on point while backing up Cruz in the filibuster.

Doubt Cruz get pigeonholed. He is smarter than Paul et al. And he is against amnesty or retention. Paul is a Libertarian and does not therefore have a balanced view of government. Cruz is a Natral Law theorist and therefore more akin to the Founding Fathers.

Cruz can restore that which made us good and great.

Agree that Rand was not as I expected! Now I have to wonder just why he did that...is it for himself or for the future of the party (maybe neither). Either way, I’ve lost enthusiasm for him, he seems to be going out for himself these days.

I’d guess that he is trying to diminish the Cruz effect and that further diminishes him. Others of course may disagree.

Too bad though as I really like both and wish they could get an agreement on a platform against the Democrats.

That was my take on the interview too.

Hannity sounded frustrated with the answers Paul was giving.

We are a pretty fickle bunch. Unless the candidates stay so far to the Right that we can’t attract anyone else but the base, we are unhappy, we split up, and we divide up, clearing the way for the RINO to come in, run up the middle, and walk the bases for the win.

Coalescing early and solidly behind our candidate is our last chance, given what happened last time.
