The commissary makes more sense when stationed overseas. At home, they don’t offer too many advantages. They tend to be a little cheaper when it comes to meat and dairy. However, I live far enough away from base to make the gas cost prohibitive for me.

Let me see - commissaries TAKE IN REVENUE (the commisary system’s actual cost of goods plus a 5% “surcharge”) and are pretty much self-sustaining, so why should sequester or temporary “government shut down” require them to close? Because it will be a way of increasing how many people will be angry.

He tries to pick the things that will do the most harm.

Which demonstrates his lack of character; he reacts like a petulant child. This 'resident is an abomination.

When I got out at the end of 2000, the only real advantage was in tobacco...depending on the state you were in, you could save a fortune in cigarettes.

The Air Force Base I work at is over 10 miles from town. Most of the Airmen will be able to drive to the local Wal-Mart (28 mile round-trip); with gas here going for $3.76 a gallon it will significantly increase the cost to provide sustenance to one’s family. This is provided they find they have been paid come 1 Oct 13. I’m not even sure if I will see my Military retirement pay. “dear leader” sure loves to crap all over the Military. As we used to say when I first signed up for the Air Force in 1975, BOHICA!

I realize now that it is worse than I thought. The families are being played to cast blame on the ‘evil Republicans’.
