Best guns to have for the end of days.

So the zombies are at your door. Death is upon you, but the gun shop is just a block away. You make a run for it, and you make it to the most extensive armory for miles. Time to make a decision: Which guns do you grab? Contrary to popular belief, not every gun will do the job the same, so to help make up your mind on which guns will save your life, here are my eight best guns for the zombie apocalypse.

My friend, a USAF pilot in Afghanistan, flew an AC-130 Spectre. They had a 105mm howitzer and 40mm Bofors cannon, plus a few other goodies on-board. He said when they fired the 105, the plane moved sideways 8-12ft. I have one of the 105 brass shells and a rack of 4 40mm shells.

You can see them on top of my safe, in the back.

Same experience here in PA. Primers are in stock out the wazoo yet on my last 20 trips to the store, of the 5 or so powders I use, none were in stock. I find the powders are in shorter supply than 22LR, as I sometimes find those.

“... I think one of the little kel-tek 9mm’s might be a good choice....”

If you are thinking of the Kel-Tec PF9, think again. Nice little gun, but it is very small and light for that caliber. It takes some discipline to shoot it without operator-induced malfunction. (My son has one.) A Glock 19 would be much better if the size isn’t so much of a concern. Even a .357 snubby revolver would be more reliable (in novice hands) if you can stand the pain.

A couple of reviews of the PF9 (by a big-handed guy who has lots of shooting experience).

Go to a shooting range. Rent and fire several different guns until you get comfortable with a particular platform.

A cool rifle to have in your pack. The stock, with the gun contents contained within, actually FLOATS!

Since 1959, the venerable AR-7 has been the choice of U.S. Air Force pilots who need a small-caliber rifle they can count on for survival should they have to punch out over a remote area. Over the years, the AR-7’s reputation for portability, ease of operation and reliability has carried over to the civilian world as well.

A few months ago, there was powder but no primers.

Luckily, I’m fairly well stocked now but would like some more bullseye and power pistol.

Only one gun? I can read the letters but do not understand what you are speaking of.

Seriously though, if limited to one gun, I would want something for a little larger game.

Can't beat the S.I.R. and lobo from World War Z! Yep, the book, not the crappy Brad Pitt action movie.

I want a Jerry Miculek. It’s not a gun, it’s a guy with a gun.

NICE!!!

You know, if you live in Mass., those would make you a felon without massive amounts of paperwork.

The C-130 is a 60 year old airframe. Sick, isn’t it? I was nervous that the ship I lived on in the Coast Guard was an old scow at 45 years old.

If you need a scattergun, you let ‘em get too close and you’re probably screwed by that point!

My '69 VW Beetle came with only a 10gal tank. At 24¢/gal - 14-15¢/gal during the competitive "gas wars" in Des Moines - while at Drake Univ, I could drive for 2+ weeks, for cheap.
