They build some really gorgeous manufactured homes built to specifications of site built these days. I have been researching this for a few months now but realize I cannot afford anything more than the park model home. I need land to put it on as well.

I need something smaller to take care of and to clean so that is another reason and then the healthcare issues. I have already got appliances that I purchased when I was still working so don’t need those. And I am not getting any younger so need to start thinking about where I will spend the rest of my life.

Looking at the picture it looks nice. It has a good pitch on the roof most singlewides and double-wides don't have. That is a plus because the water runs off and roof last longer. One word of advice. No matter how tempting don't get a skylight in the roof. The ones they put in manufactured housing don't hold up that great and are notorious for leaking.

There is another possibility. Look for a small two room cabin someone has had for a summer home and grew tired of. Luxuries are also the first thing a lot of people put on the market cheap to raise money. It would save you some set up cost like power, water, septic, etc.

My mother had a paid-off mobile home and rented a lot. She was working and earning enough to get by. Had no debt.

She suddenly became too ill to work. She was short two weeks of the mandatory 6 months with her employer to get insurance. She tried to make it, but couldn’t.

Broke and literally dying, she called for help. Hubby and I paid for her flight down. She’d lost more than 60 pounds in just a couple of months.

She had to just give away everything. Even though she had it all set up to live on just $800 a month, it was still too much.

She lived. (Turned out she had grave’s disease and liver failure from Tylenol abuse due to an old back injury) It’s been eight years and she’s trying to come back from all that. Right now, she’s still living with family.

It can all go up in smoke so fast.
