A fiery female Baptist pastor from Detroit shocked conservatives in her church and triggered a rift among the membership when she resigned after revealing she married a female bishop from Washington, D.C several months ago, charging that the Bible supports it.
Bishop Allyson D. Nelson Abrams was once married to a man and become the first female pastor of the Zion Progress Baptist Church, according to the Detroit Free Press.
On Oct. 6, however, Abrams, who is also a mother, revealed to the congregation she had pastored for five years that she was in love with Diana Williams, a bishop emeritus with the Imani Temple African-American Catholic Congregation in Washington, D.C. She resigned after revealing her Sapphic nuptial to Williams, which took place in March in Iowa where same-sex marriage is legal.

Oh, I know; I was just playing along with their silly game. Etymologically, there is no possibility of being a wife to a woman. Besides, these types would claim to be husband and wife to each other. Words are playthings to them. It is part of how they attempt to mock the Scriptures and God Himself.
Hmmm, you’re sure there’s no verse about: And thy women shall trim their locks as if they were men... and dress in the manner of those who hew wood, yet more slovenly?
I Corinthians 14.34-35?
I’m looking forward to “And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying , We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach” but I’ll have to wait until after I move to Thailand to see it manifested...
Let's try Romans 1:
26 That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other.
27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved.
28 Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, He abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
29 Their lives became full of every kind of wickedness, sin, greed, hate, envy, murder, quarreling, deception, malicious behavior, and gossip.
30 They are backstabbers, haters of God, insolent, proud, and boastful. They invent new ways of sinning, and they disobey their parents.
31 They refuse to understand, break their promises, are heartless, and have no mercy.
32 They know Gods justice requires that those who do these things deserve to die, yet they do them anyway. Worse yet, they encourage others to do them, too.
(New Living Translation)
When you violate one biblical precept, you might as well violate them all.
As an aside, black church leaders sure do love titles, don’t they?
The title grabbed me for a moment cause I knew the Baptists don’t have female pastors. Then I thought, well maybe she dressed like a man and fooled them. Then I thought well maybe it was some sort of Baptist break off group. Then I read the article and saw it was a black church where anything goes and anything goes on after church. I wonder if the partner was the piano player?
All y’all Christians can go with that New Testament thingie.....
:-)
I’m Conservative that way. Who needs to improve on the Old Testament? If it was good enough for Moses, it’s good enough for me!
(It’s a joke! I appreciate my Christian brethren, and allow that they have their Truth, and I mine. Good luck, and G-d Bless...)
Exactly, a woman preacher would have been enough to have caused the SBC to dissassociate with that church.
And if a preacher was involved in a homosexual affair and the church didn't take appropriate steps to rectify the situation and the SBC found out that also would be cause to dissassociate.
Eaten any shrimp lately?
Not a real Baptist Church. We have male only pastors.
I’m black and Baptist and anything does not go on in our after our church. Traditionally we are socially conservative and I’ve seen plenty of pastors sit people down from positions of power within the church because of their sin(s)
Well, since the article was about a woman who claimed to be a Christian minister, I think the reference to the New Testament was appropriate. :-) So since the Torah condemns male homosexuality, how does it address female homosexuality? Or did they just pretend it didn't exist?
Butch Rollie Pollie Dykes.
It doesn't. I read every word closely one year, and I did see that male homosexuality was directly condemned in that passage of Leviticus. But lesbianism is never addressed to my recollection.
Interesting, eh?
Rabbis would undoubtedly take the Leviticus passage (which is immediately followed by admonishments against bestiality) as proof that G-d intends normal heterosexuality. Like the passages that amount to "The Punishment Shall Fit the Crime" which are extensive and specific can be extended to the general theory. So I think one can interpret that G-d doesn't want lesbianism either. But the Torah doesn't come right out and say it.
Kinda like how Kashruth works: "Thou shalt not boil the calf in it's mother's milk" begets the separation of meat and milk. Jews take the Torah to its logical conclusions, and then a bit farther for good measure. :-)
Well she is TOTALLY WRONG. NOTHING in the Bible allows homosexuals to marry. God’s word clearly states that homosexual are an abomination!!!!! That is the answer, clear as the Bible prints it. She either repents her sin or she is destined for the Lake of Fire.
