The Royal Netherlands Air Force has launched an investigation after a Lockheed Martin F-16AM pilot accidentally strafed the control tower at the Vliehors range on the island of Vlieland during a training flight on 4 November.
During the incident, several live rounds from the aircraft's 20mm cannon caused minor damage to the tower. Two controllers who were inside the building at the moment of the attack were not injured.

Must be a Dutch ‘Topper Harley”
“Two controllers who were inside the building at the moment of the attack were not injured.”
But due to the outstanding preparedness, and security planning for just such an event, the lockers containing spare undergarments was utilized and fully implemented as designed...
So far the government has not classified this as an act of terrorism...
;-)
"Two controllers who were inside the building at the moment of the attack were not injured.....but each were 6 lbs lighter"
Hahahaha...what is the Dutch equivalent of the call sign “Sniper”...:)
Though they DID need to change their pants!
Hehehehee...GMTA! Ya beat me!
This ping is no *accident*.
At my base in Georgia we had a 30mm gun pod that was shimmed + 5 instead of minus 5. At the range the pilot shot the nose off his F4 and I can tell you 30mm does an amazing job penetrating Trailer park armor...
Was the pilot screaming Allah !”????
RULE NUMBER ONE: Always Point Your Fighter Jet in a Safe Direction.
RULE NUMBER TWO: Keep Your finger OFF the Trigger
RULE NUMBER THREE: Always treat Your Fighter jet as if it is LOADED
This is exactly what I’d expect from a military with a union.
Kinda sounds like the Tower Duty is about equal to being stationed in the Aleutian’s + live ammo.
A Posting that NOBODY wants.
Hey, a target’s a target!
When I was on the range and the A10s would come over firing into the impact area. I always hope they were on target and I always wondered where their casings were falling.
LOL!
5.56mm
Nice shootin’, Top van Gun.
Probably owed the guy in the control tower a poker debt.
I don't think the A-10 dropped their casings, as it'd be big trouble if one got sucked into an engine. The casings are fed back into a storage bin.
