LOUISIANA, MO. -- The Missouri State Fire Marshal continues its investigation into an early morning Thursday fire that took the life of a 3-year-old Louisiana, Mo. boy. A city police officer stunned Riley's stepfather Ryan Miller with a Taser gun three times as he tried to enter the burning house. Lori Miller, Riley's grandmother, said police stunned Ryan Miller as he tried to get back in the house.

“He tried to get back in the house to get the baby,” Lori Miller said. “They took my son to jail because he tried to save his son.”

Ryan Miller's sister-in-law doesn't think the police handled the situation correctly.

"It's just heartless. How could they be so heartless? And while they all just stood around and waited for the fire department, what kind of police officer wouldn't try and save a three year old burning in a house?" said Emily Miller. "We've been going through pictures and he's just smiling in every picture. He was just a happy, go-lucky kid."

>> what kind of police officer wouldn’t try and save a three year old burning in a house?

The kind that would electro-torture his dad for trying to save him?

Just a guess.

Ya think?

Those cops should be charged with negligent homocide in my opinion for preventing the father from trying to save his kid.

He disobeyed the police and attempted to save his son?

Do not disobey orders from those in government.

Why isn’t this “officer” named in the article?

The house was destroyed so I guess it was a pretty bad fire. How bad was it when the police stunned the man? Was it smokey with some flames here and there or already a raging inferno?

what kind of police officer wouldn't try and save a three year old burning in a house?

Maybe the type without any protective equipment or air tank. This isn't a movie where the heroic cop leaps over a burning beam (which is in a door frame no where close to the rest of the fire for some reason), dashes into the bedroom and saves the child and ends up with a little cough and a sooty face. There are some fires even firefighters won't go into no matter how much equipment they have.

Sad but, sometimes cops do what they can to save more lives.

The parents exited the back of the house and ran around to the front, only then attempting to re-enter.

The fire was too hot for even a fireman to enter the building and the baby was in the back of the house, where the fire started.

At this time, I’m going with the cops decision.

Did they run out of house pets to shoot?

A co-worker of mine had a friend that, sadly, accidentally backed over his daughter with his truck. The parents called 911 for medical assistance and when the police arrived they handcuffed and restrained both parents from comforting their daughter, and that was the last thing that poor girl saw of this earth before she died.

What on earth is happening with law enforcement in this country? This is insane.

State Fire Marshal Investigator Scott Stoneberger said that a firefighter in full gear attempted to enter the home but the flames were too hot. Firefighters discovered Riley near the doorway to the bedroom from the front living room.

Sad....

They arrested him and put him in jail. I’m not with the cops on that.

It isn’t the cops job to make that decision.
If the father wants to risk his life or die trying in an attempt to save his kid, the cop need to get the hell out of the way.

From now on, Americans will need to arm themselves and take up a defensive position before calling the police for help.

It does seem that law enforcement is increasingly taking an adversarial position toward law-abiding citizens.

I am.

They removed him from the scene.

It doesn’t say he was charged and I think it best to remove someone from the scene and give them a little time and space.

They’ll still grieve but, it will be less traumatic than watching as the house went down to the ground.

It really was for the best.
