SACHA BARON COHEN PULLS AWARDS SHOW PRANK
MTV UK ^ | 11/11/13

Sacha Baron Cohen left the audience at an LA movie awards ceremony in stitches at the weekend with another outrageous prank.

The Borat and Ali G funnyman was on stage at the BAFTA-LA Britannia Awards to collect the Charlie Chaplin Britannia Award for Excellence in Comedy -and decided to prove he was a worthy recipient there and then.

He was introduced by Judd Apatow and a series of clips of Charlie Chaplin was shown, including scenes with his "oldest living co-star" Grace Colington.

SBC then pushed a wheelchair-bound Colington onto the stage, to an enthusiastic response from the audience.

He then accepted a Chaplin-inspired cane from the elderly woman, before launching into a dance routine - which ended in disaster as he accidentally tipped her wheelchair over the edge of the stage.

The audience gasped in shock, but then laughed as it became apparent that the "old woman" was really a stunt performer and that Baron Cohen was pulling another of his famous pranks.

He then said: "Grace Colington is the oldest - Sorry, was the oldest - I dedicate this award to her. This is obviously a tragedy, but on the bright side what a great way to go: giving an award to me!"

There were also awards for George Clooney, Benedict Cumberbatch, Sir Ben Kingsley and Kathryn Bigelow - among others.

sorry, i don’t think any is funny about using the handicapped in this manner. i find nothing funny about pushing someone in a wheelchair off the stage anymore than i find it funny to push a person in a wheelchair over the side of s ship.

Really? You do not see a significant difference between a joke that hurts no one and a terrorist murderer killing an innocent man?

I bet you are a lot of fun at parties. ;-)

I found the James Bond scene where they dropped Blofeld into a factory smokestack pretty funny.

Me neither. There’s a difference between laughing because something is funny, and laughing through discomfort.

He can be funny, but he’s a hardcore leftist and a huge do... uh...jerk. Watch the end of “The Dictator.”

When I was a kid, the family was having dinner one night (families did that back then) and one of us kids told a joke that was politically incorrect. My Dad took offense and proceeded to scold us, at one point saying, “That’s about as funny as a rubber crutch!”

Nedless to say, us kids spent the rest of the meal trying, TRYING, TRYING not to burst out laughing, picturing the effects of a rubber crutch.

What can I say. Kids are evil.

Now is that a “period” like “If you like your plan you can keep it. Period”? Or a real one?
