Jane, you aren’t ‘horning in’ - this is an open forum for everyone.

Yes, I can eat calamari - as it is not a shell fish - and I have no problem with it at all.

I stay away from clams, oysters, crab, crawdads, etc - anything with a shell.

A couple things I have discovered that I am leary of:

Glucosamine Condroitin - is made from shrimp shell. (If one piece of the meat gets into the pill - it could be fatal, for me.)

Another thing that I stay away from is Diatomaceous earth, which is made from the ground up shells of deep sea plankton or hard-shelled algae. There is some evidence that it can cause a reaction with someone with a shell-fish allergy.

Good luck with your dining delights!

Christmas Lights

December 7, 2013

Read: Matthew 5:13-16

The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned. —Matthew 4:16
Bible in a Year:
Daniel 5-7; 2 John

In December each year, a neighborhood of 13 families near where we live sets up a dazzling display of 300,000 Christmas lights. People drive for miles and wait in line for hours to see the flashing, colorful lights and hear the music that is programmed to go with it. The sound-and-light display is so elaborate that it requires a network of 64 computers to keep everything synchronized.

When I think about these holiday lights, I am reminded of the Light that makes Christmas a holiday for many—a single Light so bright that it illuminates the whole world with truth, justice, and love. This Light—Jesus—is everything that the world is longing and looking for (Isa. 9:2,6-7). And He has told His followers to display His light so that others will see and glorify God (Matt. 5:16).

Imagine if Christians worked as hard at shining and synchronizing the light of God’s love as the families of that neighborhood work when they illuminate their street with Christmas lights. Perhaps then the people still living in darkness would make an effort to see this great Light. When Christians work together to display God’s love, the gospel will shine more brightly and attract more people to Jesus—the Light of the world.

O to be filled with His life divine;
O to be clothed with His power and might;
O to reflect my dear Savior sublime—
Always to shine as the saints in light! —Anon.
Our witness for Christ is a light in a dark world.

~HO HO HO~
HAPPY CATURDAY EVERYONE
It's 23 degrees and my eldest kitty. just did a run out the door as I
went out to pour warm water for the birds and critters. I let her be
and after awhile she had enough exploring and wanted in. She hadn't done her escape artist bit in months!
.Looks like a very light dusting of snow outside.
We are 40 degrees below our normal temps...BRRRRRR

Happy Caturday to you, MEG. Burrrrrrr. Looks like most of the country is in a deep freeze. It is cold here too. I got up at 5:30 to peek outside to see if we had snow coming down. Forecast said “maybe snow” for the valley floor, but no, it was just rain. And the thermometer said 39 degrees. I’ve seen it snow at 39, but we weren’t so lucky. I don’t miss living in snow, but I do miss seeing it floating down occasionally, especially those big fat fluffy flakes. Our mountains are sure to have gotten a good start on the vital snow pack that we need for our agricultural irrigation. I love it when the mountains east of us are covered in snow. Sometimes, at sunset, the snow will glow with the prettiest pink color along the entire mountain range.

Okay, now I am rambling. Need to get busy on my to do list for today. So much to do and so little time. I am making Peanut Brittle today to welcome home a favorite Navy nephew who is scheduled to return to NC from Bahrain in time for Christmas. Yay!

I give up!!!

Twice I have had a post ready to preview and both times I lost it. The first one was a great (LOL) post. The second said almost the same thing but in fewer words.

I will try to get back later to answer pings.

I need to pick up a BD cake for Prissy Missy and it would be nice if I have enough extra time to run the vacuum.

Oh Well ... like Marissa said, “Some days are like today and other days you get rainbows.”

I’m off to admire the rainbows. Happy Caturday, All.

Thank you all for the kind words!

Speaking of "CATURDAY", here is a cute video
that I may have posted before,
but it's worth watching again!
The difference between DOGS and CATS

Notice how the mama dog
shows incredible patience with her puppy,
as she teaches it how to go down the stairs.
She shows the puppy the value of trust and loyalty.
Now, watch to the end
and see how the cat teaches the kitten.......
