Are you a Free Republic Newbie? Then shut your pie hole!

Posted on 12/14/2013 10:33:19 AM PST by The Bat Ladys Husband

First of all, let me say that I have been a lurker on FR since 2000. My wife (The Bat Lady) has been registered and a poster since the same time. I generally use FR as a news source and in years past as an info source for FR organized protests/demonstrations. I don’t generally comment on articles because I mostly agree and don’t need to preach to the choir. However one article fired me up and I finally register in August 2013.

That being said, I recently commented on an article regarding Steve Stockman running against John Cornyn. Knowing a lot about Texas politics I said Stockman was not a viable candidate. OMG! You would have thought I said I pissed on Reagan’s grave. I was called a troll, a Cornyn plant, a GOP-e (if my friends had heard that they would be laughing their asses off.) With all the name-calling I had to look to see if I was on FR or DU. Conservatives pride themselves on the quality of their debate versus liberal knee-jerk name-calling. I guess some here on FR can’t raise themselves above that level.

Sticks and Stones! But more disturbing to me is the rise what I like to call the FR-e. Those are the posters that think that because they have been on FR for a long time that they are some kind of royalty and that newcomer’ comments and insights have no validity if they do not parrot their particular perception. I was called a noob “prattling"

(prat·tle talk idly or childishly: to talk in a silly, idle, or childish way silly, idle, or childish talk)

Just because someone has recently discovered FR or recently joined after lurking they prattle? Oops, my bad, I guess they don’t prattle if they agree with the pompous long-term freeper. Maybe we could cut back on the fundraisers if we encouraged new members rather than drive them off or turned them off with vitriolic discourse and vicious name-calling

(vit·ri·ol·ic adjective - filled with the intention or desire to do evil.)

If you haven’t looked at the Home page (click Free republic at the top left of the browse page) I invite you to look again: Jim Robinson states: “Believing that the best defense is a strong offense, we (myself and those whom I'm trying to attract to FR) support...”

Jim is trying to attract people to FR. How does denigrating a new reader attract them to FR? Being a victim of a verbal knock-out game by a supercilious FR-e certainly does not encourage a "newbie" to participate or even hang around

(su·per·cil·i·ous adjective 1. behaving or looking as though one thinks one is superior to others.)

Certainly all long time members don’t fit this category but those who do know who you are (or maybe you don’t) and so do we.

I'm still working on physical face-punch over tcp-ip.

Say, when it's out of beta, let's work out a distribution agreement... ;-)

Yes, and one of the main reasons that younger generations are having those kinds of problems is because Boomers have and are raiding the country and running it into the ground. The fact that you cannot see that they are one of the most destructive generations in history shows that you are either ignorant or willfully dense. That fact is not debatable, as the direction that this country has taken since the 60’s speaks for itself. No generation of people are perfect or homogenous, but as a general rule, Boomers have been takers and destroyers.

Also, I do not suffer from these issues you mention, nor does anyone I know. However, I know many Xers who take care of their parents, pay for them to live, and house them in THIER homes. Buy a clue.

“The fact that you cannot see that they are one of the most destructive generations in history shows that you are either ignorant or willfully dense. “

Do you always jump to such wild-assed conclusions? Where did I say that? Point it out or just accept the fact that you wanted to say those words to someone, and that just shows typical impulsive immaturity on your part, proving the point that even though you are supposed to be an adult you never were given the proper lessons in self discipline and languish as an petulant child. Maybe that is the fault of your Boomer parents but you can also learn maturity on your own if you weren’t so lazy as a typical GenX/Y/WhyMe/millennial child usually is.

Aren’t you the one who started all of this by denigrating every other living generation except your own, the most guilty of all? Yes, I believe you did. All I did was give you your own medicine.

Here is one: “Gen X, embarrassingly said. AT the boomers own homes of their own and don’t live with their parents. They also know how to get to a job without being late or looking like a slob or having a helicopter parent hovering over them.”

And the one that started it all: “You are seeing the result of the GenX/Y/WhyMe/millennial and their lack of education and self discipline. They act this way at work as well and people wonder why this nation is doomed.”

Yet I am the petulant child, undisciplined, and any other BS your non-working brain can dream up. Typical Boomer and or liberal. Everyone else is inferior, it is all everyone else’s fault.

You ready for a mea culpa? I did what you asked, pointed out what you asked. Proved you wrong. But I bet you will do no such thing because after all, we are all inferior to the perfect Boomers. lol, now that isn’t just sarcasm, it is a side-splitter!

I would tell you to use your brain, but I know now that is not possible for you. You ignore your own posts and then accuse me of doing EXACTLY what you did to start the whole thing.

I hope y'all have figured out the whole 'generation gap' thingy was cooked up to separate people who might otherwise be of like mind and cooperate.

TPTB can't have others getting their stuff together and launching multi-generational plans for wealth, power, or success (like they have, from the Communists to families with 'old money').

They just might find such threatening.

Sure, there are differences, but those are as much phases as the terrible twos.

BTW, I am a "boomer", I work with succeeding generations in the oil industry. When people are professional in their demeanor and competent at what they do, all else is just minor details, a preference for a different gadget of the week.

As far as taking and destroying, I have made a lot of other people millionaires in the course of my work, and paid my taxes since I was 14. Hardly scorched earth.

Make what you will of your future, play the hand you've been dealt instead of musing about having different cards, and you will do well.
