The statistics are truly shocking. Children aged 12 to 17 are one of the largest consumer groups of online porn. Experts say this early exposure to sexually explicit video can hook kids on hardcore and often violent imagery.
Shelley Lubben is a former adult film actress turned anti-porn advocate. In 2008, she created the pink cross foundation which offers resources for teens struggling with porn addiction.
"We are raising a whole generation of porn addicts," says Shelley, "When you view pornography, it creates a chemical reaction in your brain, and for a youth who is in puberty, it's like a hundred times more stimulation."
Joseph Sciambra was first exposed to pornography when he was only 8 years old. And his fascination with porn turned into an obsession as a teenager.
"It's a difficult time in your life. You're feeling inadequate and lonely and depressed. And pornography really offers an escape," says Sciambra.
By the time he was 19, it was no longer enough to just watch porn, he had to be in it. So Scaimbra decided to become a porn star. He writes all about his experience in his book Swallowed by Satan.
Sciambra describes that, "Going into porn films was not a big leap for me because I had seen every sort of porn scenario."

heck - there is hard core porn on network TV nowadays...
pretty dang close to it
The other day I saw that K mart commercial for joe boxer undies for men. You know the one where the men are... Well I had read the story here but not “seen” it. That is so lewd if you ask me. Does not make me ever want to buy joe boxer now or ever in the future.
Right. Whenever I need the newest information on brain chemistry, an ex-porn star looking for a new way to make a buck is my first go-to source. /s
Imagine Helen Thomas nude. Better than shock therapy.
Usually, I don’t mind ribald humor, but I have to admit that commercial was offensive to the max, especially so for a “Christmas” ad. I wouldn’t think it a bad idea to write to both K-Mart and the underwear company and let them know this was really crass.
I did, and blew a brain artery. Thanks
I don't kind of get the whole "porn addiction" thing. Once you've seen half a dozen of them, it's the same stuff over and over again, with different faces (when you can see their faces).
I am boycotting KMart because of that. I find it offensive and blasphemous.
Clinton legacy.
Can you remember being, or were you ever, a teenage boy?
There is a whole generation of teenage boys getting hooked on porn. It was a good thing that it was so much harder to see back in the old days. Sure almost everyone tried to see it and did to some degree, but that’s different than the ease to see it anytime you want on a daily basis.
And the porn makes them - apparently - impotent with normal women. Which really helps with the procreation of the western world.
“When you view pornography, it creates a chemical reaction in your brain, and for a youth who is in puberty, it’s like a hundred times more stimulation.”
I think pretty much ANYTHING related to sex creates a chemical reaction in your brain that is like a hundred times more stimulation when you are a youth. I was a youth once. I remember what it was like.
“Imagine Helen Thomas nude. Better than shock therapy”
Think “Clockwork Orange”
“I am boycotting KMart because of that. I find it offensive and blasphemous.”
Well that will leave KMart with only one other customer!
“Imagine Helen Thomas nude. Better than shock therapy.”
That might have unintended consequences...there’s only so much room in this world for contemplative monks...
lol
That's a bit of a stretch. Granted, network tv now shows things that would have drawn outrage 50 years ago, but they're not showing stag films (yet).
I tend to agree with your point, but I also acknowledge that you must contain a degree of self-discipline. I have read way to many religious articles claiming that this is serious stuff which harms people in many ways.
