BOR defects from fellow conservative pundits, calls Duck Dynasty star's anti-gay remarks ‘a mistake’

Several high-profile conservative pundits have voiced their support of Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson in the wake of his suspension from the A&E show following his ant-gay remarks to GQ magazine, but they’re now missing one of their loudest voices.

On Thursday, O’Reilly Factor host Bill O’Reilly told his guest Laura Ingraham he thought Robertson’s remarks were “a mistake.”

“Mr. Robertson, I believe, made a mistake in the condemnation line,” O’Reilly said, referring to Robertson’s assertion that homosexuals and other such sinners “will not inherit the kingdom of God.”

“It’s not about the Bible or believing or not believing in the Bible,” O’Reilly went on. “It’s singling out to that group, it could be any group, and saying to them hey, you’re not worthy in the eyes of God, in the eyes of the Lord, because of who you are.”

I read these blogs and the reader comments. Either there are a lot of stupid people with no reading comprehension or the professional posters are trying to muddy the waters.

I vote for Stupid.

To understand BOR, he never read the GQ article, not one quote. He is just babbling talking points his staff gave him.

Wrong, Billy! It's not about a characteristic - it's about conduct! And the comment about bestiality is apropos. Both acts are Contra Naturam and intrinsically evil.

Not completely surprising. Sometimes being The Contrarian to a prevailing point of view means you are guaranteed a boat-load of attention, as people wait for you to explain yourself. Bill doesn’t want to sound like just another voice in the choir, he’s got a show to sell here.

-— I don’t understand his popularity. -—

He’s a good host. He has a populist mentality, a sense for what interests people, and he keeps segments short.

Obviously Mr Ego didn’t read the entire quote. Phil started out with homosexuality then move down the list to other sins. But why be surprised. Bill only reads what he writes and only listens to himself.

Apparently Larry Loofah did not carefully study Phil Robertson's remarks. Phil Robertson did not say that homosexuals are not worthy of the kingdom of God. No one - Phil Robertson, me, Ted Baxter or anyone else - has that authority. The Lord alone has that authority and will pass judgment on every person at the appropriate time. Phil Robertson simply pointed out that under the guidebook for life God has given us the behavior of homosexuals is deeply displeasing to God. As are many other things. As liberals like to say, 'that's just a fact'. He wasn't judging anyone, but passing on a Christian word of warning.

I don’t think he is a very good host at all. I would boycott him if I hadn’t already stopped watching him.

Your post #16 is the greatest post I’ve read on the Robertson threads.

I hate it when he says “....Republicans do it too.....” after he has been critical of Democrats. If Republicans do it too then give examples. Otherwise, don't say it. It sounds patronizing, fake, and insincere.

The ‘mistake’ is gays trying to put a square peg in a round hole. Just ain’t how it’s meant to be.

Ding bat O’Reilly a conservative? Holly crap. He is a pure liberal leaning piece of garbage. Used to watch his show and usually muted all but about 10 minutes and that is for the conservative guest. No use for him now.

Only John Roberts could call BOR a conservative, because John Roberts proved in Obamacare that real definitions are irrelevant.

O’Reilly often has these clueless/moronic lapses in which it’s obvious he either doesn’t know or doesn’t tell the whole story, but this incident took the cake. O’Reilly omitted the whole section of the quote from Robertson about judgment, and then went on to condemn Robertson for judging!

It was pathetic beyond words. Not that I ever thought much of O’Reilly, but this time, he has really jettisoned the last tiny shred of credibility he ever had.

O’Reilly is beyond STUPID. He told his audience in 2008 that Obama was a smart politician and would lead from the middle even though nothing in Obama’s history supported O'Reilly's position. Who the heck listens to O’Reilly except the low information voter?

On Chris Wallace’s Sunday show on Fox today, all the panel members (George Will, Kirstin Powers, Charles Krauthammer, Juan Williams) were against Robertson and regarded him as a bigot.

They all said that his constitutional rights were not violated, which is true, but failed to mention that A & E had broken the Civil Rights Law of 1964, which bans employers from firing employees on religious grounds. They can’t all be that ignorant, especially not Krauthammer.

Have any of the liberals stopped for even a moment to consider that Phil Robertson may be speaking from compassion? The Bible is Christian doctrine and Christian doctrine is specific that homosexual behavior is wrong. Why would any Christian want a child of God to stand purposefully in error with God? Wouldn’t you warn someone who was going to fall in a hole? Even if they like falling in holes, they could break their neck. Phil Robertson is a Christian and he gave a warning to some children of God. That’s hateful? He is being more compassionate than liberal Christians who just turn away or condone the separation from God.
