New Dr Who star Peter Capaldi, famed for his role as The Thick Of It's foul-mouthed Malcolm Tucker, became the 12th Doctor during the long-running BBC television series' Christmas Day special.
And BBC bosses have now released the first picture of Capaldi's character, in full time lord get-up - no doubt much to the delight of fans and fancy dress aficionados.

What?
No question marks on the shirt collars?
No clown coat?
No fez?

What’s up with the pose? Did he regenerate into David Copperfield’s father?

Pretty boring if you ask me.

I think it’s cool. Retro and modern at the same time. Great outfit. Like the looks of the Doc too. Has great eyebrows.

Sadly dowdy, if you ask me. The Doctor has always worn old-fashioned clothes (whether classic or clownish), but these ‘stylish’ 21st century togs have no shape, no colour, and little to justify the ‘designer’ label. Just because something’s marketed as a luxury item doesn’t make it so.

Given the way things are going, I’m happy they didn’t put him in a dress.

I'm not sure I'd call it modern - reminds me of something from the early 1800's.
