TUSTIN (CBSLA.com) Authorities say a 27-year-old man was killed instantly when he made contact with an energized power line.
Orange County Fire Authority Captain Steve Concialdi tells CBS2 that the man was taking pictures of Saturday nights sunset from a tree in the back of his parents Tustin home when he was electrocuted.
Concialdi says the victims parents went looking for him and called out his name to no avail.
CBS2′s Art Barron reports that the victim managed to post his pictures on Facebook.
After he took the pictures and posted them on Facebook, he came in contact with some power lines up in the tree, the captain told KNX 1070s Bob Brill
The victims parents on Sunday morning found his body in the tree.
The deadly incident occurred in the 15600 Block of S. California cross of Medallion.
Authorities said power in the area was temporarily turned off to allow fire crews to retrieve the mans body.
The victims identity has not been released.
Look out Tustin. People are going to be coming from miles around to photograph your beautiful sunsets.

Woo hoo!! And the first 46% is in!! Thank you all very much!! |
RIP. Poor guy.
27 is much too old to die so young while being stupid.
methinks Darwin
The poor Guy probably didn’t notice power lines hidden from view by the tree.Lines carry lethal voltage are NOT insulated but only weatherproof in older installations. Newer triplex house feeds are insulated.
I think it shocking freepers are ridiculing him.
Shocking? Indeed!
Nice post, G66. Good story, and glad that you looked behind yourself in time!! What a ghastly fate if you hadn't!!! My gosh ... how long would it have been before anyone even found you? If ever??? What a close call!
I feel so sad for this poor guy in Tustin (pretty close to where I live) and even sadder for his family. He was probably a sweetheart (most photo geeks I've known are). Like you, I've come this close to disaster doing kinda dumb stuff like that. "There but for the grace of God ... "
Prayers up for this guy and his family and loved ones. :^(
You stinker! Facebook kills. {^)
Still, God bless and comfort the guy's loved ones.

She’s that redhead with the knobby knees.

Reminds me of that satellite TV commercial, “Quit Cable.”
I don’t think he was electrocuted by any house service.
I agree. I really do. kinda easy to make light of this poor situation. I think it was the entire - posting to Facebook - aspect that made me poke fun. Just an overload of relatives and friends posting to Facebook at such inappropriate times lately. I've seen guys posting comments and pics from dug-outs WHILE coaching kid's games, Mom's posting from dinner, and on and on and on.
Just kinda a SIGH moment for me to watch that happen, while real life is taking place. Just plain weird to me. And apparently certainly dangerous as well, for this poor guy.
But , at least he died quickly . . . cause the fall sure wouldn't have done him any good.
Totally agree with you, Hoosier. This is so sad and I feel just terrible for his parents. Brings tears to my eyes of three in their early and mid 20s.
The pictures, they were to die for!
Yikes. RIP.
