Yahoo ^ | Mar 21, 2014

If bourbon is the social lubricant of the South, then mayonnaise is the culinary ball bearings. It makes your deviled eggs, chicken salads, potato salads, pimiento cheese, and tomato sandwiches sing. So why master homemade mayonnaise? For starters, it’s healthier and tastes better than store-bought (yes, even Duke’s). Plus, making mayo will make your grandmother’s heart full.

You know, it would be nice if you could tell some of the stories. It’s a little impolite, actually, to tease us so!

My back problems were cured, suddenly, on March 30 last year.

WOOT! Yay!!

You've had those since I've known you, back in ATRW days.

I just saw that. So I had to do a happy dance.

Only way I know to explain it. Some things are best shown as they happen. Hope it helps.

My recipe:
In food processor, 1 whole egg plus one egg yolk, pinch of Himalayan sea salt, 1 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 1/2 tbsp lemon juice. Pulse 3 times. Add 1 cup sunflower oil by drizzling into food processor while pulsing for about 3 mins.

I make mine with organic ingredients and I never have a problem with it spoiling or separating.

Rape seed oil is canola oil. Marketing. The whole rape word thing.

(Technically, not, but canola is just a low euricic acid rape variety..... All canola is rape, but not all rape is canola)

Btw, canola fields are gorgeous. Google some images. Beautiful fields of bright dense yellow flowers. Canada is where a lot of it is grown because it is a short season crop.

I'm sticking with Miracle Whip!

Just add Sugar to homemade Mayonnaise and it's - Miracle Whip!

Homemade Mayo/Whip is great
Use a stick blender

The endless rapeseed fields in bloom in the spring in France and Germany are amazing...

The first time I heard of it while on business in Europe, I too thought I was hearing things.

I was a veg oil trader in a previous life. It is why I have the knowledge. Love food, but its certainly not to a fetish level. Never worked in the food service industry either, except as a commodities buyer for a food manufacturer.
