HERE IN MARYLAND, it is impossible to travel too far in any direction without seeing something that celebrates the legacy of author and environmentalist Rachel Carson. There is a greenway trail and a conservation park named for her here, an alma mater university and a Rachel Carson grade school there — and, of course, the Silver Spring home where she would write “Silent Spring,” the hot-button ’60s work that is often cited as the spark that ignited the modern environmental movement.

I “lived” in Monkey county for 30+ years before escaping to UT a few years ago. It is LIB heaven and hell for everyone else.
It is too convenient blaming Rachael Kookson. She did write the book to start the Magic Thinking on environment. But It is the army of bastards who have used the fantasy to push an entire Magic Thinking agenda to empower their masters which is truly at fault. While vermin like Al Goreghoul rant about a fictional emergency due to carbon dioxide, the real pollution of waterways and soils has accelerated under a foolish screen ignoring what industry and sewage plants are doing to what actually sustains the biosphere. The fools who worship at the stages of the Gores and Carsons will never awaken to the truth which has been so thoroughly suppressed in favor of using the myths from the ghouls to empower the oligarchs.
And nothing for Memorial Day?
Progressive response: Hey, if malaria had not killed them, they'd be starving now, and killing and eating one another!
She’s been dead for 50 years,if that’s any comfort.
Rachel Carson ending DDT use and even production created a malaria genocide that has killed more people in Africa than Hitler did in the Holocaust. Her legacy of pseudo science and environmental activism is everywhere. Mumps, measles and even polio that were almost eradicated are coming back because of similar pseudo science studies that supposedly linked vaccinations with autism. Phony science has driven the global warming movement into a cult that threatens technical civilization and democracy...all thanks to Rachel Carson starting the ball rolling with her now demonstrated false data.
I notice this article claimed she didn't oppose the "use" or DDT, just the "misuse" --- whatever that means.
Lots of good links in this Reason article:

DDT causing thinning eggshells and being a human carcinogen were not supported by rigorous scientific data. Carson’s concept of a silent spring, where DDT poisons and eventually kills all avian life, was absolute garbage. Yet because it struck a chord with Gaia-worshippers, her radical environmentalism is still a strong influence today.
There is no full recovery from malaria, the relapses hopefully get less severe over a long time.
I got the bug when I was in the RVN in 1970; had a relapse about 3 years ago, you just learn to live with it.
My Pops held dual degrees in Chemistry and English and wound up writing pro DDT pamphlets just prior to the release of this classic of quack science. My Pops labeled it as anti-science from the beginning. Malaria was on the way to eradication before this insanity took hold of the Book Clubs. DDT was also used to control bedbugs and the last two and a half decades has seen a plague of bedbugs across the US. The EPA has one agent for control - but so far, has not deigned to allow its use. More of the hapless and destructive “precautionary principle” upon which much of our bureaucratic Gordian Knot is built. Carbon Dioxide fantasies have now been added to the cultural and economic destruction wrought by Carson and her friends in the UN, EPA, Greenpeace, Sierra Club, Friends of the Earth, World Wildlife Fund, etc.
not really...she doesn't have a legacy, she has infamy.
killed more than Hitler, Stalin and Mao combined...yet the left considers her a saint.... how bout you??
I first thought it was Rachel Corrie and was going to make pancakes.
Thank you for this link. It’s something I can use. Gracias.
LOL!!!!
