Trussell, you have my thoughts and prayers. But please take him to the emergency room.
Like others here have said, people in your church and the scout troop should be more than willing to help.
If you cannot get a ride, then call for an ambulance. I’m financially broke, too. But, sometimes, in a medical crisis, we have no choice but to go into debt. You can worry about a ride home when you get to the hospital. The hospital might be able to arrange a ride home for you and your son.
Just prayed an urgent prayer for your son.
Prayers up! I am going through an infected toe of my own for the past few weeks, ugh! Remember, if he gets a fever, or redness/swelling/pain get worse get to the ER immediately.
25 years ago MRSA wasn’t such a threat, nor were staf infections treated with liquid silver. This situation has burned too much clock already, and infections have become increasingly dangerous and expoentially life threatening.
Thx.
I join in earnest prayer for your son!
Prayers..God bless.
Rita - I agree. This needs urgent care at the hospital where specialists in infection control can determine what is causing the infection. Minimally a culture needs to be taken and antibiotic sensitivity tests dome. You are right MRSA is nothing to dally with.
Perhaps the boy needs to be on intravenous antibiotics to get the medication into his system rapidly.
This is way above Urgent Care abilities. MRSA is deadly.
Enthusiastically seconded.
Amen, Gumdrop.
Seems in this case resources and even transportation are scary absent. It’s a matter of finding help on this front also. I pray help will appear.
I have told him that if he has any change in how he feels, he needs to let me know immediately and we will get him in. Somehow. I just don’t know how yet...
Check post 29.
Thanks, I’m glad you agree that more is needed on the front end of this, to prevent spiraling into possibly even immenent danger and great expenses.
You are held in prayer with your dear son.
Is he running fever now, may I ask?
It occurs to me possibly this is blood borne only because of jumping to the other toe. My son was taking intravenous antibiotics in the hospital at 10,000 units a day against staf, just to take down a small, clean nodule located at the base of his skull above the neck, when he was only five years old.
Best prayers up, trussell.
I learned about this a few months ago, can't remember how; but my son (no insurance) has to take a bunch of meds for autoimmune disease, and what used to cost $400/month is around $100 with the GoodRx coupons.
I hope this helps you to afford the prescribed cream.
His rash could be part of the infection. When it was just the toe, localized infection; a rash sometimes comes about when the infection has invaded his bloodstream, a systemic infection.
Please don't hesitate to get him to the hospital for an eval. It can go downhill very fast. You have my prayers.
Crap. That link didn’t work.

Sorry
Take the advice of the good people here to get Cody to the ER stat....and tell THAT PERSON who won’t drive you back and forth that if something happens to that sweet boy, it’s on HIS HEAD! This is beyond cruelty to deny him access to something that will help him heal. It’s criminal!
Thank you. Those prayers are definitely appreciated! If the urgent care center says he needs to see a podiatrist, will the podiatrist be ready to treat him aggresively for the condition he is facing? What about his primary care doctor? They want to see him/evaluate him before they schedule/refer him to the podiatrist!
By the way, I can pray for him and you. I just wish I lived closer. You would not be dealing with this. You do the need help of someone local.
Thank you so much, again! No fever at the moment, but he seems a bit moist on his forehead.
Unfortunately, Laz isn’t that close...he’s several hours away.
