Nome is used to rowdy residents, but some relatively new transplants are making a real nuisance of themselves -- although unlike the colorful characters of the early 20th century gold rush days, these visitors have four legs, not two.
Musk oxen are wandering into the city on the Seward Peninsula, and despite loud noises, water hoses and even a blow-up bear coated in ursine urine, they don't want to leave.

Looking UGLY!!!
Temp was in the nineties here today, too.
If it keeps up like this, I just might start up the air conditioner.
Dang. Lots of wind and thunder stuff, but I’m hoping we don’t lose power. I just got the DVD “The Lone Ranger” from Netflix, and I want to watch it without a power interruption.
DARK outside...Cold...Windy...GAH!!!
All the ugly stuff has passed us by, and since we’re on the upside of the hill, most of the ugly stuff is heading north and west. And all the water that is left behind finds ways to remind us that we are at the mercy of Nature.
And I am going to bed. I have a DVD to watch and I’m going to put some popcorn in the nuker and have an evening to myself... yay me.
I just sent the last of the byos to bed and I will be going any minute now. We started reading “Prince Caspian.” We can get a good bit of it done before I leave on my “Let It Go” weekend, and then we can pick it up when James gets back from Webelos camp.
James doesn’t read a lot of fiction on his own - a Clone Wars narrative occasionally, and some talking wolf thing. He gets things like “National Geographic: 100 Fascinating Animal Facts.” It’s good to learn facts.
James is probably influenced by James, which is a big boon or bane, depending on the outcome.
I’m anxious to go to bed and watch “The Lone Ranger” but I’m wishing I had some beer and some popcorn...the movie would be much better with props...
;o]
Well...
I DID put it on my facepagething page where there's a real 'like' button... ;-)
I just got the DVD The Lone Ranger from Netflix
Note: The Lone Ranger wore a White Hat...

And we have a line of thundernoisestuff heading our way. Again. They say the front is trucking our way at about 45mph. Projected time to 'impact' is 40 minutes...
Has the storm done the decent thing yet?
It did arrive when they predicted, but without nearly as much windyblowingrainstuff as the one yesterday. Looking at the radar now it seems to be up over New Hampshire and Maine on it's way to the maritimes...
It did dump enough rain that the sump pump is reacting to the runoff, or maybe it's run-in(to the basement)... ;-)
"Who are all these kittens, and why are they calling me Mom?"
I’m thinking prank. Not sure by who or what though.
They smell like peppermint. Kinda ruins the “spooky” factor if you ask me.
What would the Dwarves be doing in the forest? Bad enough when they hang out at the lake...
All that beard hair washing ashore with the rest of the flotsam.
*shudder*
Try shaking some plastic bags at them. Jake has persuaded some of the lower-level denizens that this is scary.
That’s exactly how I feel this morning. Doggone kids.
“The Lone Ranger” was a surprisingly hilarious movie, and it seemed to be just what I needed. Johnny Depp was a scene stealer more than once, and whoever played the Lone Ranger was adept at the job.
And imagine my surprise at Helena Bonham Carter as a hooker with a scrimshaw leg that had a hidden gun in the heel. Is there anything she does that isn’t good?
All in all, rave review.
I think Bellatrix Lestrange was Helena Bonham Carter’s real personality :-).
Just back from the corner clinic. They said Sally seems to just have a cold, keep treating the symptoms and wait for it to get better. He gave me a prescription for antibiotics in case things turn really gross.
