Why post to me when I didn't make the comment? Talk about FUD....
There is some truth to this; however, the thing that is holding people back is legacy applications written in old buggy Windows frameworks. And there are a lot of them. As people migrate off those and onto web-based systems, they do tend to go to Macs. But that (moving applications outside) introduces other problems.

We run a small business as well and can’t afford the time, IT charges, and loss of revenue a computer problem would cause.
We’re not techies. We just want to start the computer and have it work flawlessly without tweaking or tinkering. We’ve been satisfied. I don’t understand why some people are so hostile to that concept.

They’re typically pretty good. We have a couple of iMacs that’ve been used heavily and are 6-7 years old. They’re now stuck on MacOS 10.8, support was dropped in 10.9. That’s fine, they still work well and run their applications as desired.
I can always install Linux if I feel the need.
I’d like to see Apple introduce the xMac, essentially a mid-tower form factor with i7s available and high-end graphics options. There’d be a lot fewer Hackintoshes in the wild if that happened.

No, you should make everyone bend to your will, because, that is what tyrants do. Or you could upgrade your skills and learn how to support both platforms, although I must admit it is much easier for you to just make the other guy use the cr@p that you know how to use.

Linux is killing Windows in the server space, and has been for years. As more software migrates to web stacks, the trend will continue to accelerate.
Not true, it works just like Windows. Apple just stopped supporting it directly, Oracle provides support instead. The same Java 8 is available for Mac, just download it from Oracle's site.
The Mac is extremely popular for software development. I'm aware of a large government software contract where a majority of developers are using Macs. Almost all the rest run Linux.
Windows is a second rate software development platform these days.
I'm surprised that someone who likes Macs doesn't know how to write the word down. ;-)

Why people invest so much in the most insecure OS historically is a mystery. I hope you wrote your "proprietary" software portably so you can easily move it to a better OS when the cluebat hits.

A marketplace manifestation I saw recently that supports your assertion: Costco was selling a tower PC only, no monitor. Maybe no mouse and keyboard, I didn’t look closely. Clearly a setup for the SMB buyer looking to upgrade.
The machine came preloaded with Win7 Pro, with a Win8 “upgrade” disc.
Win7 remains a fine OS.

I wrote my own MySql interface in Java. It works like a charm.

but remember, I’m doing cad, video productions, CGI special effects, animation, 3D Text. Will be doing green screen. That’s worth a ton of programs rolled into one. Well worth the pain. Think what that would cost otherwise.
It’s MS’s version of VMWare.
This isn’t about server space, this is client side. And the web stack “migration” is one of the funniest myths in computing today... and for the last 2 decades. Ever since the world ditched thin clients people, including Bill Gates at one point, have been insisting that the world will go back to it under a different name. Not happening. When push comes to shove local install works better, it’s faster, it’s more secure, and it’s less prone to lightning bolts.
VMWare wishful thinking. Their software simply allows people to run the PC version of Microsoft Office Pro on their Macs.
I’ve worked at a major university for 35 years. Standard computer fare here is an iPhone, an iPad, a laptop, and a Windows PC with dual monitors. Windows 7 is the standard with few opting for Win 8.
Liberal arts faculty are the Mac users. Business and engineering are firmly entrenched with Windows. Linux is seldom used for anything but a dual-boot PC with Windows 7 as the primary OS.
Apple is not replacing Windows. The new tablets and smart phones are being used in addition to Windows machines.
I have a Glock, but that doesn’t mean I threw away my Colt 1911 (Series 70). The same is true for computers. We just have several instead of one. Each tool has it’s own strengths and weaknesses.
