Costco Relents After Thousands Protest Decision to Pull D'Souza Book

Thousands of Costco shoppers took to the wholesaler's Facebook page threatening to drop their store memberships after the retailer pulled copies of Dinesh D'Souza's newest anti-Obama book from its shelves, but a company official insists the decision was financial, not political.

And the reaction got almost immediate results as the company announced it would put D'Souza's book, "America: Imagine a World Without Her," back on its shelves, despite, what it says are poor sales.

"Costco is not a book store. Our book shelf space is very limited," read a statement posted shortly after 8 p.m. on Tuesday. "We exercise discipline in the best utilization of that limited space based solely on what our members are buying. We can't carry every title that our members are interested in reading. We are constantly monitoring book sales, and make decisions to pull books off the shelves frequently based on sales volume to make room for other titles. Politics or controversy over content do not influence our decisions."

The statement, signed by "Dave," went on to say the movie had renewed interest in the book causing "brisk sales at locations still in stock."

"Therefore, we have made the decision to reorder the book," added Dave.

“EXCEPT it doesn’t explain why they had Clinton’s book so prominent when it is hardly selling, unless they made the mistake of paying up front for those or something, which not book-buyer ever does.”

Buying left wing books that don’t sell is a convenient way of making donations to the left wingers and by passing election laws.

They did this with Obama’s worthless book and past books of the Clintoons.

The few surviving chain book stores do this on a regular basis. One of these days stock owners are going to hammer the officers and boards in civil suits.

Thanks for posting this link.

Of course you/we will hear about how horrible it is to shop at Walmart or Sams from faux conservatives.

It is a pro America movie not an anti Obama movie.

I contact my local Starplex theater about when they would be showing America. This is their reply:

"I have spoken with our first-run movie buyer to see if America will open at any other locations, but he said it didn't perform well, and unfortunately will not open wider.'

Is it really not performing well? When does it come out on DVD?

I know this is childish....but while browsing in a bookstore, I enjoy turning a book to it's back cover, or putting another book over the face of a liberal author's tome. Sue me.

Amazon has a bigger selection of coffee beans than Costco.
Drop your Costco Membership & get an Amazon Prime (free shipping on noted items)

However, buy local when you can. I buy my coffee beans from a local mom & pop roaster & pizza from Papa Murphys. We’re a small community and it makes a big difference to our local economy. When the SHTF local producers may be your only source for goods.

Plenty of canned cat pea out there.

Yes it is, and I'll do it again.

>> Hey, Costco, don’t pee on my leg then tell me it’s raining.

It wasn’t exactly Costco’s fault. It was Costco’s automated decision machine that determined your leg was too arid and lacking sufficient amounts of sodium.
