Unexplained rash? Check your iPad. It turns out the popular tablet computer may contain nickel, one of the most common allergy-inducing metals.
Recent reports in medical journals detail nickel allergies from a variety of personal electronic devices, including laptops and cellphones. But it was an Apple iPad that caused an itchy body rash in an 11-year-old boy recently treated at a San Diego hospital, according to a report in Monday's Pediatrics.
Nickel rashes aren't life-threatening but they can be very uncomfortable, and they may require treatment with steroids and antibiotics if the skin eruptions become infected, said Dr. Sharon Jacob, a dermatologist at Rady Children's Hospital, where the boy was treated. Jacob, who co-wrote the report, said the young patient had to miss school because of the rash.

No, but I did catch something from Penny.
An iRash.
I am allergic. I got rashes from cheap nickel plated watch bands. Also from wire rimmed glasses. So I wear a gold plated watch band and plastic frames.
MAY? MAY???
More FUD!*

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”

I’ve had my hands all over my iPad for about a year (although it is in a case) ... no rash here.
I am very allergic to nickel, and use my iPad & iPhone with no problems and no rashes.
I do have a cover on both, so do not have much contact with the metal parts.
Anything to scare us away from Apple products, perhaps?
Which part(s) have Nickel?
Of course, this scare hit all the major news outlets; but, scabies, etc. being imported to your home town is not worthy of mention. Neither are dead children washing up on the shores of the Rio Grande.
I’m also allergic to nickel. (This makes me wonder about the future of “wearable” technology.” Watches, regardless of allergies, have no attraction to me.)
You have a valid point. Major news outlets pick up on an extremely rare occurrence, yet ignore the monster items staring at us each day. There is no clear cut reporting in these times. Just rumor-mongering and scare tactics. And avoidance of reporting life-threatening diseases spread by illegal immigrants being scattered into our communities courtesy of our own government.
no clue, actually, but anything metal and shiny that comes in close contact with my skin makes me itch, unless it is very pure, gold, etc.
Call me expensive if you want to buy me pretty baubles. I have learned to go without, and prefer not to go forth “bedecked”.
Heck, I even get itchy rashes from bra strap hooks and tabs, unless they are all plastic. Makes shopping for lingerie a challenge!
But they are consistent... anything that can harm the Democrats gets buried.
