What this movie needs is more lens flare.

From the article:

>>>>>According to Badass Digest, the new movie will begin with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega's characters discovering Luke Skywalker's severed hand 30 years after "Return of the Jedi" ends. The duo then team up with Han Solo and Chewbacca to track down the vanquished Jedi master.

Sound like a good storyline to you?<<<<<<<

Not really, no.

I'm just of the opinion that this 'plot line' was written by someone who has only seen the movies and not read any of the books, and I just can't see Disney/Lucas Films throwing away hundreds of thousands of pages of story line to push out that stinker.

If it does turn out to be the plotline, however, Abrams will have his first real bomb, and probably the biggest flop since Highlander 2. (everyone remembers Highlander 2, don't they?)

Faux Trek was his ultimate bomb. I don’t care if it made a billion, it was the biggest defecation in human history on the preeminent science fiction franchise... by a Star Wars fanboi.

Well the “destroy solar systems” idea sounds to me like it was stolen from one of the books, “The Star Crusher” I think the weapon was called, caused stars to go supernova.

Obviously these new films will disregard the continuity of the myriad of post ROJ novels which show you the next 20+ years of every main character’s life, they pretty much have to, I don’t have a problem with that. But would it would be nice if the plot didn’t suck.

It would be VERY hard to do as bad as the prequels but Abrams is capable of it.

Are the books considered canon? I know the cartoon series Clone Wars was.

ping - I hope he doesn’t do to Star Wars what he did to Star Trek.

Quite honestly, he couldn't do it any more harm than Lucas did with the prequels.

Given the Star Trek franchise record prior to him, I prefer his two reboot movies to pretty much all the Star Trek movies except Wrath of Khan, Undiscovered Country, and First Contact.

Well, I had forgotten it... Thanks for dredging up old nightmares and pulling the scab off my wounded psyche.

Remember laser discs? Bought one in the BX way back in 1992 or 1993. The only disc they had in inventory at the time that I had any desire to watch was Highlander 2. Everything else really sucked worse than that (yes, selection was that bad). I'm so grateful that fate played its hand on that deal. The player didn't work, so I took the whole thing back for a refund, disc included, which added up to over $400 in 1993 dollars.

For several years there would be two fighters fly what was apparently a recurring circle. One was an F-100 and the other was an F-104. I don’t recall which one was following or leading.

They would fly by the house literally within a few hundred yards then maybe 20 minutes later would repeat the same thing and keep doing so for an hour or so. I never did know what they were actually doing.

Sounds like you were watching unmanned target drone ops. Either the QF-100 or QF-104

QF-100 at Tyndall

QF-106 at Eglin

Well, I’m somewhat encouraged by them bringing on board the writer of Empire Strikes Back, Lawrence Kasdan.

Although, he hasn’t had a hit movie in years (I think Mumford was his last, which was pretty good), maybe being back Star Wars (and no George Lucas) will inspire him?

I think JJ Abrams will get the visuals great, it’s the script that will really make or break this...

I missed it... As of April 25th, 2014, the ONLY items considered 'canon' are the six films, the Clone Wars cartoon series and film. Also most of the material in books published after April 25th starting with A New Dawn and the Star Wars Rebels live action series are considered canon.

Gone is the expanded universe, the video games, the novelization of the films, and the rest. So yep, they already tossed everything.

I hope Jar Jar Abrams does not destroy the SW franchise anymore than it already has.
The past two Star Treks were an embarrassment, they both made little sense.
Hopefully Disney has a few writers on board that can make a decent plot.
