Follow up to book sales Dinesh D'Souza AMERICA discussion of earlier this month.
I ordered one off Amazon. A friend wished he had it, but had a pay cut. So I ordered one for him. Amazon took about a week and a half to send it, due to demand.
at least two or three of the pallets I bet
end of August??
for a best seller?
strange that the price would be so different in different stores
Nearby bookstore had a whole wall of Hillary’s books, all facing out, when it came out. Next time I was there, about a month later, there were just as many books. I asked a lady working there if they ever sold any of them. She just smiled and rolled her eyes.
The problem is that Sam’s has no where near the quality of product that Costco has. Costco sells the good stuff at a great price. 10 lbs of organic sugar for ten nucks. 4 lbs organic hamburger for $17. Great albacore 8 cans for $14,
Lots more processed foods at Sams. I don’t eat that stuff. I will stay with Costco.
The Costco stores I have been to that had them also did not have the price... just the item number. My first thought also was that they were trying to discourage value conscious Costco shoppers from purchasing the book.
LOL, “Organic” eh. Rows of freezers full of processed foods at Costco. Yes I’ve seen organic this, and organic that, but I/we don’t believe in that hype. We buy ingredients not just add water processed foods.
Mrs. RQSR, and myself prepare all our food from scratch, other than the same as most people when it comes to dry cereals, and some items of occasional consumption such as quality beef hot dogs ya just gotta have sometimes. IOW we aren’t into buying boxed, processed dinners.
I’m sure we’ll find quality ingredients to purchase at Sam’s, but if not we currently are buying many items at Smart & Final we used to purchase at Costco, but we can purchase less than case lots at competitive prices at S.& F. rather than Costco.
We can get along without Costco, and so can everybody else.
The Costco in Winston-Salem, NC had one stack of 20 America books and a sign limiting purchases to 6 per customer. Plenty of Hillary books on display and no purchase quantity restrictions.
Yes. End of August.
I’ve been very happy with Costco until the book incident. I have an executive membership and have had it for years. It may be time to look for an alternative.
I’ve never been to a Sam’s Club. Let us know what you think of them if/when you check them out.
I agree. I’ve heard the same about Sam’s Club and Walmart (which Sam’s Club is a part of).
I have friends that work at Costco and they say that it only buys the best meats, etc. I don’t buy much meat (I’m not a vegetarian), so I don’t recall all of the grades of meat - IIRC “select” is the best and that’s what Costco normally buys.
I have a good friend that used to have a farm in Eastern WA. They raised some cattle along with their field crops. They always kept about 1/2 a cow (if that’s the right term) for themselves for food each year. If/when they ran out, she’d only buy beef at Costco, same with pork, etc. She said no other store could compete with the quality. I’ve eaten their beef and Costco beef and both are good IMHO.
I bought mine at a Seattle suburb a week or so ago. It had a sticker on it and was $17.49. There were only 2 available that I saw, but didn’t look more after I found mine.
Half a cow would be “a side of beef”.
I’m not sure about Costco quality. 90% of American beef comes from the same feedlot processors. Its a mega-business now.
You’d do better to buy some beef from your friend’s farm or somewhere else.
Also, the last time I was up there I took a little trip to Snoqualmie Falls and further up to Keechelus lake. I saw many, many herds of elk. Get your hunting license! Best meat you ever had, and hormone and chemical free!
Hi ya AB!
Hope all is well with you.
One of my cousins lives in Montana and goes elk hunting every year. He has sent some elk sausage he makes (or has made - not sure which)to relatives here from time to time. It was quite good.
America well stocked and customers are limited to 5!
What happened at that location to limit people to 5 copies?
Thanks for that report.
It would be nice for those in your State, City to know where this Costco is in case they wish to purchase the book.
We are reading it as we have the time. Good book so far.
