We will not have a week of normality before the Gibsmedats come boiling out of the urban kraals.

We will not have three days of Walmart "just-in-time" inventory to feed the hordes and keep them sated.

We will have only HOURS. History teaches us this:

1965 - Los Angeles - the arrest of a young black man in Watts incites a crowd, which spawns a riot, within one hour of the arrest (60 mins.)

1968 - across America - the death of Martin Luther King touches off rioting in several cities within hours of the media broadcast(Less than 3 hours);

1977 - New York - the grid goes offline at 9:30PM, the looting starts around 11PM (90 mins.);

1992 - Miami - Hurricane Andrew's winds haven't even died down before the malls are ransacked;

1992 - Los Angeles - the verdict is announced for the Rodney King Trial, and almost immediately, the city burns (Less than 60 mins.);

2005 - New Orleans - the looting started even before the storm made landfall;

2011 - London - a protest over a slain gangbanger turns violent and Greater London descends into mayhem (4 hrs.);

2012 - Long Island, NY - in the wake of Frankenstorm, enterprising looters dressed as powerline repairmen sneak past the martial law cordon and pillage, with 24 hours of the storm;

2013 - Oakland, CA - less than fifty minutes after the verdict in the Zimmerman Trial is announced, mass demonstrations "spontaneously" erupt, but in Oakland, fires and unrest break out (Less than 50 mins.);

2013 - Across America - the EBT card networks shuts down in 17 states, and in three states, looting begins (Less than 24 hours);

2014 - Ferguson, MO - A police officer shoots and kills a black youth, and after a public vigil, stores are burned and looted (18 hrs.);

Hours, people - not days, hours.

Hey, hey, hey, let’s not be mean.

We’ve got to be culturally sensitive here. These “folks” were simply exercising an ancient and honored mourning ritual, a tradition brought by their ancestors from the tribal roots of their original countries.

Deaths in many parts of Africa are celebrated the same way to this day.

There is first much wailing and gnashing of teeth, then large crowds gather to march about until a suitable venue is found for trashing, looting, and burning - usually, but not always, in that order..

I could be wrong. I’m not a cultural anthropologist (but I do hold a doctorate, and I’m a keen observer of human behavior).

Perhaps this is a tradition these “folks” derived from their culture in THIS country. There is certainly a LONG history of such events in predominantly “urban American” (that’s an NPR-approved euphemism) neighborhoods.

Two word for those protecting their businesses and homes: AR 15.

Thou shalt not steal went out the door when their great-grandmothers collected that first welfare payment in 1958. Since then, not a word about stealing. Stealing is receiving now. Free phones, free cheese, free condoms (for what purpose) free healthcare at the health department or from Medicaid and on and on. Stealin’, whatchu mean stealin’ We is entidaled.

And if you think that’s raciss, tough.

I don’t think that’s racist. I believe you’re just telling it like it is. I have no problems with the truth.

Hours, people - not days, hours.

Seems like the best place to add this. Get your preps together for months and not days.

Yesterday on the Pandemic Flu Information forum was an article about Sierra Leone. This is ground zero for the pandemic in Western Africa. There are reports now of people beginning to go hungry because of the lockdown of the boarders. No trucks in or out, farmers unable to gather their crops and markets closing.

This is also a good site to monitor about the ongoing epidemic.

drudge is reporting that the Galleria Mall in St Louis is experiencing a riot/looting from a flash mob and is in lock down. Spin off from last night - spreading.

I was channel surfing when I came upon Al Sharpton and he was interviewing the mother and grandfather of the teenager who was killed.

Al said to the grandfather “Sir how does it feel to be knowing you were to be celebrating today that your grandson was going to JAIL”. OMG I just broke out laughing. I can’t believe how stupid this clod is. The grandfather had this WTF emotion on his face. The teenager was to head out to college today not Jail. LOL

I guess the rioters woke up and had breakfast and decided to go for round 2.

depending on the cops to protect you and your property in these situations as with home invaders, is a bad idea.

So, the “community” honors the dead guy by looting liquor stores?

Sure. Doesn't everybody?

“not days, hours”

Might take ‘em a day to loot the big city near (too near) where I live, then they will come boiling out.

I pretty much agree with you, but I would have said Beirut.

“He was a good boy. He didn’t deserve none of this. None of it,” said Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr., who was one of more than two dozen friends and family members at an afternoon news conference at the Jennings Mason Temple church near St. Louis. “We need justice for our son.”(continued)”

Holder will conduct an impartial investigation. sure.
