There is no such thing as an accident. It’s all premeditated carelessness. The idea of giving a nine year old a fully automatic weapon is bordering on lunacy. Okay, so I was nine when I got my first firearm but it was a .22 single shot.

Since the parents did take that video, I wonder how it came to be online everywhere?

He wasn’t killed by a 9 year old child. He was killed by his own stupidity.

>>Do they think the 9 year old girl was drunk ?

I think they want to see if this was a “Hey, hold mah beer...” moment.

The only one on that show that had a grasp on this was the instructor.

I think that I read some of the tests take that long to complete.

Probably the people most conserned with this accident ARE
those that could care less about the carnage in Chigago and Detroit..

AND the cartoon goings on in Furgeson, Mo..
and have strange ideas about the O.J. Simpson legalized murder..

And wouldn’t know an Uzi from a Guzi...

It was a foolish thing to do, and it exacted a heavy punishment on him for it. Not all foolishness does, and sometimes even greater foolishness isn’t punished so severely.

I’d like to think I wouldn’t have done such a thing as this but I try to be careful not to be so arrogant to think that I’m incapable of foolishness myself. But I know better than that. I know I’ve done foolish things. I and those around me were fortunate to survive my foolishness. Sometimes the only difference between fun and foolishness is hindsight.

If the little girl had successfully squeezed off a burst and squealed with delight there would still be a thread here about it but most of the comments would be completely different.

I’ve always felt that people using a full auto for the first time should have a hold down strap to prevent muzzle climb, as the rate of muzzle climb is a surprise to many.

The only full auto I’ve shot was an M-16, courtesy of Uncle Sam. Even it had a muzzle climb which will surprise you. The instructor had us hold the rifle low, then use the off hand and arm to hold the barrel down and fire only three-five shot bursts.

A few years ago a man was killed when his SKS went full auto and flipped back on him. The firing pin was rusted forward and the rifle slam-fired.

I like Rick Ector. He’s a smart guy who doesn’t let much stupidity fly.

He was on the show with Benjamin Crump after the Trayvon Martin shooting. Crump was saying that stand your ground laws need to go and Ector pointed out that Zimmerman didn’t fire under the stand your ground law but out of defense in an attack he couldn’t retreat from.

From the article it says that

“...the shooting range says it’s already changed its regulations since the incident. Shooters will be required to be at least five feet tall or 12 years of age.”

I would have to agree with that. Anyone less than those requirements should be only shooting single shot and semi-auto firearms.

Here is a video of an approximately 12 year old girl firing full auto .223 at the beginning. Don’t know what rifle it is.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3f8VmJRuBFY

Another quote:

“Cohen’s business, for example, is installing a tethering system that will prevent machine guns from riding upward after firing - the same motion that killed the gun instructor this week.”

This would be good for beginners to use.

For all I know, this guy could have been an otherwise very responsible and conscientious firearms instructor, and if that was the case, it drives home the point even more emphatically that one momentary lapse of common sense or discretion can bear tragic fruit.

Yep.

Wow, didn’t know that.

Maybe the police impounded it for evidence during their investigation.

The problem was that he took his hand off of the weapon, and it didn’t help that he moved it to full auto.

The kid needs to be taken away from the parents.

The parents need to be charged with something.

It seems like nobody knows how to raise children these days.

I don’t know what the solution is. Parents should be responsible for how they raise their children. They have screwed up the country and are continuing to do so.

At a USCG range there was one old 1911 .45 with a bad sear that would empty the entire magazine on the first trigger pull. In about one second. The guy who discovered it needless to say got a big surprise. Of course after that we each demanded a turn with it. Just to be sure.

You just keep telling the kid over and over...”you did nothing wrong, the guy instructing you did nothing wrong”.But when she gets older you tell her “perhaps it was unwise for your parents to allow you to handle the gun.Perhaps it was unwise for the guy to agree to instruct you.But nobody...not you,not your parents, not the instructor...had bad intent. It just happened”.

You can tell from the way the girl is standing and holding the gun that something bad is about to happen. I feel sorry for that poor girl. The instructor paid for his mistakes with his life, unfortunately.
