PHOENIX — A man who slept with a 20-year-old woman when he was 14 — and didn’t learn he was a father until eight years later — is now being forced to pay child support, the Arizona Republic reports.
Olivas, who said he was confused and going through a rough patch at that time of his life time, said the two went their separate ways after the encounter.
Arizona law says a child younger than 15 cannot consent to sexual relations with an adult under any circumstance.
All of it was put behind him, he thought, until two years ago he was served papers from the state demanding he pay child support.

This sounds as logical as Sharia Law rape judgements.
Then, when he found out about it, he did nothing.
Maybe the father can claim he is an illegal and let the government pay for the kids support.

The 14 year old girl has the option of putting the child up for adoption, but if she keeps it, she’s financially responsible. Though at her age the state or her parents would probably be supporting her.
Men can’t choose to put the child up for adoption, but if they knew about the child, they might be able to block the mother from putting the child up for adoption and take custody of the child themselves.
In this case, the didn’t know the child existed, so he lost that option.
Think about the consequences of your position. You could create a situation where 14 year old boys go around creating as many children as they can, and have no legal responsibility for their offspring.
I’m not saying it’s particularly fair that this 14 year old got saddled with a kid. But life isn’t always fair. And on the other hand, kids are blessings.
Fine prosecute the mother, put her in prison and give the child to the father. He’s still financially supporting the child. But now the child is tramautized because of the abruptness of the transition.
Or would you rather the state just seize the child and put it in foster care?

When he was 14, my late father had already been working on the farm and sent out to another farm as a hired man. We don’t expect boys of that age to do anything like that today (this was during the Great Depression) so they are children, under the laws that we have now.
The sperm donor should absolutely be held accountable for his biological children.
I think most states, including AZ have laws that allow a father to dispute and gather dna evidence to dispute fatherhood of a child. They have to prove it AND walk away from the child. And they have to do it in a certain time frame.
No different than if a man marries a woman with children, he becomes responsible for them. Or as my lawyer told me, "I didn't marry her. You did!"
You keep using that strawman argument. There are many options other then what you’ve stated. Good grief is it better a baby grow up with a rapist?

I’m not okay with rape. But in this case the victim didn’t come forward and prosecute the rapist, the daughter has already been with the mother rapist for 6 years, so what are you going to do?

You know the Hebrew age of accountability was 12. But kids mature at different ages. Legally the adult woman was responsible. I don’t buy that the 14 year old kid didn’t know what he was doing was wrong. The legal responsibility falls to the woman for the illegal act. But the child biologically belongs to both of them.
