Ebola vaccine developed in Canada may be 1st approved for use

A World Health Organization official says an Ebola vaccine developed in Canada may be the first to be approved for use, possibly before the year is out.

Marie-Paule Kieny says data from the first safety studies in humans of two experimental vaccines should be available by November.

She says if they are deemed safe to use, it could open the door initially for use in health-care workers tending the sick.

One of the experimental vaccines was developed at Canada's National Microbiology Laboratory in Winnipeg.

The company which licensed that vaccine, NewLink Genetics, announced this week that it had received approval from the U-S Food and Drug Administration to start safety testing of the vaccine.

Kieny says it will likely be the first one used.

Kieny made the comment yesterday after a two-day meeting in Geneva involving nearly 200 scientists, public health experts and others involved in developing drugs and vaccines.

“Them” is the people that you posted the link to, to promote, that I mentioned to you by name, and that we are talking about, the vitamin C foundation.

Are you reading your and my posts to each other? Look at them.

The vitamin C foundation should go to Africa and distribute their cure.

Don’t you care about saving lives and ending the Ebola outbreak? YES...of course...sheesh.

The vitamin C foundation should go to Africa and distribute their cure.....and I AGREED

How much would you say that you spend annually and monthly on products from them, or that you learn about, from them? I am NOT promoting them....just saying they have a possible solution, too....and I spend a good amount on vitamins and supplements...that's why I'm so healthy...hahaha. I also do a lot of my own research into alternative medicine....I Try to stay away from MD's....that's just ME...don't take it personally. Have a nice week.

Which DNA mutation of ebola does this vaccination counter?

Ebola is an RNA virus and has no DNA.

This vaccine is against the Zaire strain of Ebola. It should cover the West African variants of the virus as well as the Congo variants used to develop it.

For all we've heard about the mutations, there really are not very many of them, those that exist are within the normal variability of virus that we expect, and the mutations affected the genetic material more than the structure of the virus. So the vaccine, if it performs well in testing, should be effective.
