Looks like I will have to try some cooked or smoked sushi
in the near future. Never had it so it will be a novel experience.

Go to a decent sushi bar with somebody you know who really knows the menu and try a few things. Several have smoked salmon. Sashimi beef is excellent. Several other possibilities.

If you've never tried it, I would suggest that you begin with with the raw tuna or raw salmon. They taste great, and have a nice firm texture, and aren't at all fishy.

Fresh raw salmon is the best thing you could ever have... give it a try with some soy sauce and some wasabe.
