Lol. I never figured on living this long. Now I’m trying to stay healthy for the rest of my time.
Can’t get back that hearing though. Barely made it into the service almost 30 years ago, and decades of heavy equipment, aircraft and weapons have pretty much finished off what little was left.
Still like my music loud—like Beethoven, I have to feel it. Lol
I was Carl Canedy’s sound man in ‘76 and ‘77 before I enlisted. We still stay in touch.
HA! - Yeah - I loved that Livgren tune - Dio made it very realistic - and the lightning at the end to give sound effect to what Jesus said in Luke 10:18 was perfect!
Triple top C
Nice.
I will - thanks.
Yeah, but who would have ever thought that the 70s and 80s would be remembered as America’s Grand Old Days?
The Who defined "loud" and they meant it. The line from "This is Spinal Tap" where they said they were England's loudest band was a rift on The Who.
That’s for sure. The speaker stacks at that concert were seriously as large as houses—one on each side of the stage. I’ve never seen anything else even close. That didn’t count any of the other “regular” speakers all around the stadium. The Who did a lot of experimentation with speakers, and it was always about pumping up the volume. Lol
It was a Halloween concert I’m SoCal and pretty much defines crazy. Tons of fun, but incredibly loud. Aeeosmith got me worse just because of proximity, but the volume didn’t come close to The Who.
And Peter jumped with that guitar, and that was a HEAVY guitar. Most people never realized how heavy it is.
Thanks for posting that - pure 70s/80s metal ballad. I almost think that in or screwed up culture of 2014 that this music would be declared "illegal" by "Obama's Executive Order."
Actually, the best acrobatics came from John Cougar Mellencamp. He jumped off the speaker stack in the beginning of the show. Pretty daring — always figured he was coked out. Lol
And he married a model.
Agree - another time. I never thought I would look back at people like him, but now I do. He was a real talent, not studio auto tune for him.
I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about Dio. I still play the heck out of that first Rainbow album.

I never actually thought I would make the statement...
“Well, back around the ‘turn of the century’”.......
After my Grandson’s baseball game some of his friends (teammates and girls) were talking music and my GS said “Tell them what kind of Music you like” and I said “varied but just for plain background, I like Classical Music”.
One of the kids said “Yeah, that Classic Rock from the 80’s isn’t so bad”?........
Listening to ‘Hard Rock’ and ‘Rap’, I find it easier to see how my Grandfather was ‘disturbed’ with Elvis, The Beetles etc etc etc..
Time marches on but Music doesn’t wait, some just hangs around a lot longer....
