“Is this the plane with the onboard swimming pool?”

You kid, but Duane Cole could have flown it without sloshing any out!

That’s the difference between army binoculars and navy binoculars. The navy ones need to be better since the things that they are looking at are usually farther away.

To be completely fair, the army one had an anti-laser filter which probably degraded the optics just a tiny bit.

I also had a well used but optically perfect army surplus Steiner 7X50 which also had the filter. It had a stunning view mainly because it was wide angle which catches your attention.

I sold the Steiner to a guy at a gun show at Jekyl Island. The guy who bought it, had tied his boat (Yacht?) up near the convention center and walked to the gun show. He said the Steiners were just what he wanted.

I’ve flown an Emirates A380 twice from JFK to Dubai round trip.A nice aircraft for sure...but no better than a 777 or 747.They’re talking about using a 380 between Boston and Dubai which I’d love to see.One of several landing patterns into Logan takes aircraft about 300 feet over a great viewing spot in South Boston. They pass so close overhead that you can almost reach up and grab the landing gear.

Remember when the biggest rockets, jet planes, bridges, buildings, dams etc were in America?

...

The A380 is a tremendous mistake. Airbus will never make money on it. Emirates supposedly makes money operating them, but they can buy them cheap.

Uh oh. Should I include a "Sarcasm" tag these days?"

No...just a larger font

I flew on an Air France A380 two years ago from Washington Dulles to Paris Charles de Gaulle. Air France is one of Delta’s partners and I cashed in some Delta SkyMiles to sit in Business Class, which is in the front of the upper deck (interestingly, there is a 9 seat First Class cabin on the lower deck just behind the flight deck). In AF’s configuration, the plane had a total 528 seats.

Dulles built a special gate complex for the 380, which consists of two jetways, one connecting the lower deck, the other the upper deck. I’ve never walked uphill on a jetway before or since.

They served a good French champagne and steak and lobster that night, as well as a premium calvados after dinner. 6 hours 45 minutes never went by so quickly.

It is a really nice plane, very quiet and a lot more leg room than other planes I have been on.

...

I think that’s the best part of the plane, it’s cavernous compared to others, and I believe airlines charge a premium for all classes of seats.

I saw an A380 fly over a couple of weeks ago at about 7000 feet. It looked like it was at about 2000 feet and darkened the sky. I’ve also seen it parked on the ground next to other jumbos and it dwarfed them.

I see them(A380's)fly overhead(at cruise level)occasionally here in mid-Mich...then some idiot fried Chicago Center last Friday and they've(hopefully temporarily)changed routing hundreds of miles to the west.

Even at 38000 ft......that'sa big airplane.

I’m not a fan of the plane myself, I’m just noting that during the 20th century, most world records were set in America.

I regularly watch the Lufthansa A380 land in Miami around 2pm each day. Due to its’ size, it actually seems to be moving extremely slow on approach like it shouldn’t be able to hang in the air the way it does. I could never make it through a 15 hour flight no matter where it was going or how much alcohol was available. Yikes.
