All over the internet recently, sciFy vs. reality and a Mars satellite for petty cash:
That breaks the monopoly. Faced with the spectre of other nations publishing uncensored Mars images, NASA and JPL have started publishing some much more obvious images than they have in the past including a totally uncensored video (JPL) showing large-scale structure.
A few items...

Thanks! What Darks said in #3779!
34 degrees, wind chill of 29. Hard freeze warnings out for tonight.

just sayin'...
“The Hills are Alive, with the Sound of Morlocks...”
Now THAT’s a top seller, I’m sure! LOL!
Today’s kitteh is so cute I think I’m blind.
So squee! His whiskers are bigget than his face. :)
And his eyes are too big to look quite natural.
Supposedly, there’s a movie out about the artist who painted those big-eyed ragamuffin children that were so popular for a time.
According to the plot, the husband took credit for his wife’s painting talent, and sold the works as his own.
Makes for an interesting story.
I read a review of the movie, somewhere.
You got the democrat party platform backwards in your tagline...
Blame the original source, Isaiah.
Good morning. How are you?
A bit fried around the edges, but I have a 10 hour drive to during which to unwind tomorrow.
Only 2-3 hours of which will be in snow.
My first snow driving experience was Christmas Day. I’m an expert now...
That sounds like fun. I think nothing of a 10-hour drive, as long as I have a recorded book, but I’m not sure about snow.
It’s the new Tim Burton movie.
I had nightmares as a child from those paintings. On the fence about the movie but I do like films by Tim Burton.
Shame he just broke up with his wife this week.
They weren’t married, so I suspect they’d intended all along to split.
I don’t remember ever seeing the paintings, but I dislike the giant-eyes trend in animated movies.
Snow driving is constant hydro-planing.
Many drivers are surprised when their tires lift off the road surface and begin rolling across water. This removes steering and braking from the driving equation.
Other than that it’s no problem at all.
So snow does this for you. It lifts the tires (tyres, Moosie), off the road for a more extended opportunity to discover the principles and joys of hydro-planing.
The natural, and cautious, tendency is to slow down. This is somewhat helpful, but it is also necessary to summon enough intrepid fortitude to maintain a bit of momentum in order to get through the resistance offered by the snow.
Only a person cravenly attempting to keep body and soul together and continue living, would avoid this marvelous adventure and learning experience. If you survive, be sure to tell us all about it.
I realize some people have to drive when others would stay home.
Fwiw, we have no snow in our forecast.
I just took an unused simmer pot to the community room (paring down again...almost have another truckload for the thrift store!) and the gal told her cohort that it would “aromanate” the entire room...
Because I moved some stuff around, the bedroom looks bigger. I have some stuff to put in the linen closet, and finish putting away the Christmas stuff, but the latter may wait until tomorrow.
I’m feeling the effects of no Ibuprofen, so I have reached my limit for the day. I will try to borrow some because I want to sleep tonight.
Busdaddy’s mother is in the hospital (she’s 86) and is having some problems with her COPD to the extent of having seizures. They had her intubated, but were going to remove it this morning at 0900 EST, and I have heard nothing from him, so I’m thinking his mom is breathing on her own. Good.
Anyway, it looks like another time I get to be the “brick” while someone else falls apart...
