The deputy then apparently slaps the young man as he says: "You want to (expletive) resist?" The slap can be heard but is not captured on the video because the camera was pointed downward.

At that point, it appears from sounds in the video that Glans grabs the young man's car keys and tosses them to someone off screen, as he says: "Search the (expletive) car."

All because this young man had a .22 cal rifle in his car that he had just legally purchased.

Glans? That’s really his name? No wonder he was acting like a d*ckhead.

This cop has already cost his NY town a lot of money in one lawsuit, and he is about to cost them millions more with this incident.

From the Daily Mail:

They had purchased a .22-caliber rifle earlier that day and had a receipt for the weapon. They were finally let go after showing the deputy the receipt. It's not the first time the Sergeant has had a brush with the law he is supposed to uphold. In 1999, the town of Wilton, Saratoga County paid $6 million to settle a lawsuit filed by the family of a 45-year-old man left paralyzed when a patrol car being driven by Glans smashed head-on into the other car. Douglas H. McEachron suffered critical brain injuries and a federal jury found Glans was negligent in the crash. The deputy was responding to a 911 call and driving close to three times the posted speed limit around a sharp curve on Smith Bridge Road in Wilton when he lost control of his vehicle. Glans crossed into the oncoming lane and smashed head-on into McEachron's car.

They wonder why they are so hated....well there ya go!

suspended without pay

That's the real surprise. They almost always get paid vacation for wrongdoing.

I don't condone activity as it's portrayed ...

It wasn't "portrayed", it was recorded.

In the article, a slip of the truth. The officer was in trouble before and just shuffled off to another city. This happens A LOT! A bad cop busts a head, steals, gropes... gets caught, the department fires him to look as if they have done something but in truth, they found a nice home for him somewhere else and in turn, take in one of the bad apples from another city or town. Some of these jokers get away with 8 or 10 minor crimes before they do something really horrid and most reporters are uncaring enough to dig into his past.

"What my husband did and how he reacted wasn't the correct way to do it, but there were circumstances that came about beforehand," she said. "He's had a very hard year."

Well, that makes abuse of power OK, right Mrs. Glans?

Some quotes from the full article I found disturbing:

“Asked if he would have handled the matter the same way again, Glans said he would, but not if he knew it was being filmed. He acknowledged that he did not know the incident was being videotaped. “I was concerned. It was a public safety issue,” the sergeant said. “If I had to do it all over again ... I’d probably do the same thing. If I knew the camera was there, no, because it does look bad.”

Yes, trampling on the constitution and striking innocent citizens does “look bad”. We should all make sure we have some way to record any encounters with the police so there’s an incentive not to have things look so bad.

“His wife, Carrie, who is a medical provider, said her husband has been under a lot of emotional and physical stress and that she’s concerned how the video and any fallout may portray their family in the community. “What my husband did and how he reacted wasn’t the correct way to do it, but there were circumstances that came about beforehand,” she said. “He’s had a very hard year.”

I would say the guy who was paralyzed in the car crash this officer caused also had a “very hard year”. The Constitution of the United States has also had a very hard year.

Terminate this useless waste of skin immediately. He should never again be allowed to hold a position of public trust.

I image there were hundreds of similar incidents with this same officer that went unrecorded.

This is why the COPs will have no qualms about kicking your front door in when the pols tell them to confiscate your guns. None can be trusted.

Standard answer to “Can I search your ______” is always, “NO”.

And to “We’ll get a warrant.” is “You do that.”

ALWAYS have your phone ready to record when you get stopped by the cops. Most of the time you can delete it right afterwards...but if these guys hadn’t recorded this....no doubt it would have been he-said/she-said...and the cops dash-cam would have been deleted.

Attention Sheriff: "The activity", as you call it, was not portrayed - it was recorded as it was actually happening.

Looks like the Gestapo attitude is alive and well in Saratoga County. This cop is your neighborhood truck loader and if you don't like it a few smacks and a beat down. This "cop' is a Jerk off of the highest order. I feel sorry for his wife.

This porkie was previously found negligent in an accident he caused via a high-speed chase that left an innocent man paralyzed. Why this swine wasn’t imprisoned at the time is beyond me. This rabid animal should be put down.

You know...

Day’s gonna come when he doesn’t have a badge and a gun to hide behind...

And someone is going to slap his face, hard... and then kick the living crap out of him.

Deservedly so.
