Race Fans! This is it. Will a chaser win the race or will it be decided by who has the best finishing position. Oh...
Then we are in for the winter withdrawals! mabarker1 has promised an off season thread for news, commiserating, support.
And, most importantly, who wins the Fantasy league? Rainbow Warriors or Richmond Rockers.

Homestead Air Reserve Base To Provide Flyover For Ford EcoBoost 400: Two of Homestead's most recognizable residents will team up to provide fans attending the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday, November 16 an unforgettable experience. Homestead Air Reserve Base will be providing a flyover prior to the start of Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Championship race at Homestead-Miami Speedway, making it one of only a handful of tracks that will have had a military flyover this year. On Sunday following the National Anthem, a pair of F-16 fighter jets from the 93rd Fighter Squadron will be seen - and heard - over the host venue for the championship races in all three of NASCAR's series.
In addition to the flyover, the Base will be involved in many other ways throughout Ford Championship Weekend. The 482nd Homestead Air Reserve Base Security Forces Color Guard will be Presenting the Colors on Friday, November 14 prior to the Ford EcoBoost 200, while the 482nd Honor Guard out of Homestead Air Reserve Base will be doing the same for the Ford EcoBoost 300 on Saturday, November 15 and the Ford EcoBoost 400 on Sunday, November 16. U.S. Army Brigadier General Kurt L. Sonntag, Commander of SOCSOUTH, will deliver the Pledge of Allegiance before Sunday's race, while Colonel Christian G. Funk, Commander of the 482nd Fighter Wing at Homestead Air Reserve Base, will be giving the Oath of Enlistment to the new military recruits who will be present on stage prior to Sunday's race.
This is not the first time this year that the Speedway and the Base have joined forces. Back on September 10, Aric Almirola, driver of the #43 car for Richard Petty Motorsports, paid a visit to the Base as part of the Chase Across North America Tour media event. In fact, during that visit he worked with the crew chief to prep and launch an F-16 fighter jet. For more information on tickets, call 305-230-5255 or visit

#17 team has parts confiscated, could face penalty: NASCAR announced late Friday that officials have confiscated the rear-end suspension parts on Ricky Stenhouse Jr.'s #17 Ford Fusion after finding an issue during prequalifying inspection for Sunday's Ford EcoBoost 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway. NASCAR spokesman Kerry Tharp said Saturday afternoon that NASCAR will take Stenhouse's rear-end suspension back to the NASCAR Research and Development Center in Concord, N.C., for further evaluation early next week. Any penalties resulting from the issue on Stenhouse's car will likely be handed down on Tuesday -- two days after the season's final race -- and could affect the final points standings.(

Stewart's win streak on the line; no new crew chief: #14-Tony Stewart has won at least one race in each of the last 15 seasons and needs to win at Homestead to extend his streak. Richard Petty holds the record at 18 seasons followed by David Pearson at 17, Rusty Wallace and Ricky Rudd at 16 each. See the list on the
All-time wins page for the full list.
UPDATE - no crew chief change: "All streaks come to an end at some point," Stewart quietly said during an interview with The Associated Press. "The streak is important to me, and this year, I still won a sprint car race when I came back," he said. "So I've had 36 straight years of at least winning a race. I was proud to have 15 years in a row that I won a race in the Cup Series. I'll be sad if it stops and it ends, but that's part of it."
Crew Chief Chad Johnston, who in his first year with Stewart, is desperately trying to keep the winning streak intact. Many of Stewart's longtime fans think Johnston is to blame for Stewart's struggles because he's not giving him a car he can drive. Stewart said Johnston is doing just fine and likened their chemistry to the relationship he had with Greg Zipadelli, his crew chief for 10 years and two championships. "I really like working with Chad, and it's been frustrating for him, too," Stewart said. "If there's any fans who don't think he is mad and frustrated, they are fooling themselves. He wants it so bad, but we've tried so many different things, I honestly feel it's the package that's the hang-up. I don't feel like I need a different crew chief next year. I am very comfortable with who I have."(in part from the
Associated Press)
AND Stewart quickly dismissed any idea that the tumultuous year meant he would part ways with his first-year crew chief Chad Johnston. "Chad and I are --- probably of all the crew chiefs I've had -- personality-wise, we are probably the best fit in all reality. We have the same level of intensity but also the same level of quick wit, sarcasm; it's like we might be related to one another."(

During yesterday's race everybody was rim riding. Sometimes too close. Until the end of the race when things got a little crazy resulting in a Green, White, Checker finish. I'd expect the same today.
