"Sam" was 8 years old, and he had become quite a grouchy, old cat.
He was still gentle and wanted petting, feeding and watering, but he acted like he had a tooth ache and he had bad breath.
The vet said there was no known cure for the virus infection, Feline Leukemia and that it was VERY infectious to other animals.
Her said that he probably got it in a fight with another infected cat, or that it could be caught by drinking or eating from the same water bowl or feed bowl that another infected animal used.
I buried him by the rose bush he liked to spray, and I hated it.
But I didn't want the other pets to catch it, and I didn't want to see Sam, my favorite cat, slowly get worse and worse.

My condolences for the loss of your little friend.
I lost my 20 year old kitty two years ago, and I miss her every day. I know how you feel.
To: Leaning Right
I'm glad it's not a TOTAL loss.
Thanks.

I'm glad it's not a TOTAL loss. It's certainly not a total loss. As I mentioned previously, you educated at least one stupid cat owner (me). And I'll be passing on what I learned to my cat owner friends. I'm meeting one for lunch tomorrow. So I'm guessing that you saved a few cats with your post.
Regards, and thanks again.

I lost several of my outdoor cats and kittens to that. Horrible disease. Condolences on your loss.

Sorry for your loss. We just had to put down our Maggie in September. Kidney failure. She was such a sweet girl. So I know how you’re feeling.

I know you have cats, so I think if you don't already know about Feline Leukemia, you need to, and be sure to read the link in
comment #16.
Sincerely, Yose

Put food grade peroxide in their drinking water...just a few drops. You can read about it in the book
Flood Your Body With Oxygen. Excess oxygen kills virus, and bacteria.

Your cat thinks you are weird for being sad because he’s already alive again at the shelter. Go find him!

Sorry that you lost Sam. They just don’t get as much time as we do for some unexplained reason. You gave your cat a good loving home for the time he did have.

I'm thinking about a new "blood line" Siamese male and female already, either in a "Blue Point" or a "Seal Point.
"Sam" looked very much like the Seal Point below, only a little darker because of age.

I’m sorry you had to do that. I put down one of my siamese this past winter. I know what you’ve gone through. I hope things get better for you.

I’m very sorry for your loss. Prayers up for you and the rest of your furry family. I lost one to FLV, but the other four didn’t contract it. It hurts.

Another Siamese sounds great! You gave Sam eight great years, which is eight more than many cats get. Allow a little space before getting a successor, and don’t expect him to be another Sam. There are some pets that we only get one of in our lives, Sam sounds like one of them.
