S&W 642 .38spl. Pocket carry in mika holster, Taurus TCP .380 in remorsa pocket holster, or keltec p32 in desantis pocket holster. Around my property I open carry a Virginian dragoon .44 magnum. Takes care of snakes bears and two legged miscreants.

Ruger LCP in a Tagua pocket holster. I’m a salesman, so I don’t want my gun to be showing (my customers probably wouldn’t mind- I’ve compared concealment guns with at least one of them). Also, it’s far too hot here most of the time for me to wear a cover garment.

This time of year? S&W 642 with +P hollow points in the parka pocket. Hammerless, revolver, will shoot through the pocket--a parka is cheap, and if I need that one it'll be up close.

Otherwise A-75 Astra in .45 ACP or a Sig P-228 in 9mm.

Beretta also makes the 9mm Nano in subcompact. The px4 storm can be had in 9mm .40 or .45 cal.

What`s your take on .380? As I`m planning on getting a PX4 Storm subcompact, my Bersa may go to a family member. I carry +P in all circumstances but have changed from frangible in summer to hollow points or flat nose cast in winter. BTW, Buffalo makes a pretty good round and gunbot.net is a reliable source for them.

“I think I lost all of my guns in a freak boating accident on Lake Michigan”

Same thing happened to me—except it happened on Kentucky Lake.

Ruger LC9S in an Alien Gear IWB loaded with Critical Defense. The smooth shape is snag free for holstering. I have small hands so I don't use the mag extension. The trigger is very predictable and it shoots accurately. I have about 500 rounds thro it with no problems.

Three+ Guns Per Second Sold on Black Friday

November 29 2014

by Dan Cannon

Based on preliminary numbers, it appears that Black Friday gun sales were extremely brisk.

At one point, the NICS system was processing three background checks per second for gun sales. This of course doesn’t take into account guns sold online (the buyer does the background check when they pick the gun up at a local dealer). Also, in many states an NICS background check isn’t required if the buyer has a valid carry permit.

Same here, my wife and daughter both love to shoot full size revolvers and it’s great practice.

That’s not what a CCW is designed for. I shoot mine only every few years or so just for testing. If you can’t carry it at all times it’s no use.

“That’s why 2 to the center of the chest failing to stop the fight should be followed by a third to the center of brain box”

If you have brainbox ability in a fight then the first shot should be to the ‘puter. Why wait? End that fight right now. Don’t go for 2+1 if you don’t need to. Obviously a wildly moving target or a distance shot says otherwise, but if up close and stable enough, take the head shot every time. Practice it. It really isn’t that difficult once you get a little practice hitting a 4” target. You’ll probably find you can do it out to 50 feet reliably, circumstances depending of course.

If things start to go bad, Ohio is a no paper work on personal sales state. I say, if your state is so, just rent a table to a local gunshow and that`s where you can get rid of your superfluous weapons, no paper work for non-FFL sales here!

Unfortunately, my wife doesn't carry hers, in spite of having a CHL. She keeps it in her car, but not her purse. I've tried to convince her to carry it (or the airweight), but she just doesn't.

One has to get used to carrying. At first, it feels like a spotlight is on you. I also have a little fake leather case that I clip onto my beltloop for my Bluetooth headset. It helps cover my pocket opening in case anyone wants to try to peek inside.

Weird. I did too!

But if I still had them, a Ruger LC9 for concealed carry in summer, an S&W M&P 9mm compact or Sig Sauer 1911 in winter. Depends on how much clothing I’m wearing to conceal.

A 7 round S&W 686-6 .357 Mag, 5” for open carry.

“Three+ Guns Per Second Sold on Black Friday”

That headline just gives me the warm and fuzzies all over. I love the idea that most of those guns are in the hands of like minded people. I also happen to know that nearly half of all guns sold are sold to liberals/democrats, so it’s tempered with that knowledge.

Stopping power is a very interesting subject.

I’m not trying to start a fight, it’s hard to tell on the internet, I’m curious and interested.

Prior to the head shot, did he take any hit’s where caliber would make a difference? I’ve heard reference to a hits to the extremities and a hit to the head. Did he take any solid hits to the torso and keep coming? I ask because that is where “stopping power” comes into play.

I have Marshal’s original book published in the late 1900’s. At the time, defense ammo was in its infancy but it was clear there was a difference between ammo. 125 gr HP .357 ammo coming out of service length barrels were more effective than 9mm or 45 auto especially when many departments were still hesitant to move on from FMJ ammo.

You are correct there is no replacement for shot placement, but you want to maximize a good shot. We are very lucky, we now have ammo in 9mm, 40 S&W, 45 Auto and 357 mag with documented one shot stops (torso hits) in the 90+%. We live in an time, with proper ammo selection, arguing over caliber is a waste of time.

That was a long winded way of saying I agree with you and making a post so I can follow the conversation.
