A .45 can be a handful in a small package.

I use the px4 storm subcompact as my ccw. It is excellent. Unlike many 380s, it has a beefy feel in my big hands. It is not a bad shooter for a sub compact and has great finishing touches.

Recommended.

(Yes, I also own a 45, it just not my CCW.

A nice little weapon for sure, wish I still had mine. Afterwards I had to standardize for cost reasons so I went with 9MM. Cheap and plentiful so practice is not an issue. The .380 was for CCW as I got my permit about 2 and a half years ago.

I carried my Sig Sauer P229 in .357Sig or .40 (aftermarket Bar-Sto barrel) for three years before I moved to Japan. I’m a small guy, and it carried wonderfully for me with a cheap right-handed hip holster that I used by putting it in the back of my pants for an easy left-handed reach around draw.

Short of a 12 ga with slugs, or a LAWS rocket, there is no such thing as stopping power in a pistol.

Needless to say Hand Grenades can work in a pinch and can compliment your evening wear requirements.

Charter Arms Bulldog .44

Great pistol, owned one, for a while, when I first moved West, in 1981. Of course, coming of age, in the NYC suburbs, in the ‘70’s, the name was synonymous with evil. My pals back East asked me if I was crazy. Lotta brainwashed folks in that region (but a lotta good folks, too).

Thanks!

Peccary (Javelina) roam in packs. Adults weigh from 50-100 pounds. If you wind up in the middle of them, they can be aggressive. Look out for the sharp tusks. Have a carry with a large magazine. But, hunting is best with a rifle.

For winter carry, a Bursa .380 in my back pocket, modified .45 ACP Bond Arms in my front pocket, 1911 Springfield in Jackass shoulder rig.

Front pocket (winter and summer) is a Mini-Griptilian Benchmade 557 with tanto blade and deep pocket clip.

Summer is the .45 Bond Arms in my front pocket and the .380 in my back pocket.

Hard to conceal the 1911 in the summer and I positively hate IWB carry for a 1911, which is really the only viable carry for a 1911 in the summer.

By modified (.45 ACP Bond Arms), I mean that the front sight has been milled off, the hard corners have been buffed smooth. the trigger guard removed and the trigger has been worked.

All of which voids the hell out of the warranty, but makes it a dream to carry in a shorts pocket or jeans pocket and extremely easy to get to.

And, of course, I always have my other Benchmade, a Mini-Grip 555 with a deep carry clip.

I don't have a lot of faith in the .380, as far as range, but for up close (which is where most self-defense situations occur), I can make it count.

The derringer, in .45 ACP is a hell of a knockdown and so easily concealed that I almost forget about it.

I'm sure some lib/progressive would look at me and faint, if they knew what I was carrying at any given time, but I am concerned about myself and any loved one I may have with me at the time.

My wife knows the location of every weapon on my body, and while I don't think she has it in her to grab the Mini-Grip and start hacking someone, should I go down, she certainly has the presence of mind to find and deploy one of my firearms.

And she has been well trained by me on them.

She don't like them, but she recognizes them for what they are: a tool that one really doesn't want to have to use.

As for me on a personal level...I've only had to defend myself twice and no shots were fired in either case.

I did hit one guy in the mouth with the 1911...which effectively stopped his aggression and made him drop the piece of iron scrap he was holding.

No damage to the weapon by his teeth.

Responding police thanked me for getting the fool off the street, even if temporarily.

So, that's my story on a boring Sunday morn...and I'm sticking to it.

Concealed weapon carry is a huge responsibility and should be done with thought and foresight.

No one agrees on the best gun to carry, the best tactical knife to carry, methods of concealment, deployment, etc.

Bottom line is, do what you are comfortable with, to include turning your back and walking off.

I do not seek to hurt anyone, but if pressed to defend myself, I will eliminate the threat in whatever way I can.

That's not posturing, not braggadocio, no bullshit, just fact...and may be the reason that I've made to my "advanced" age of about 62 or so, in one piece.

I`ve read about them, they are supposed to be aggressive and protective of their pack mates. Is it true that if you shoot and wound one, when it cries out they`ll all come to it`s aid and attack you?

Most days, Springfield Armory XD Subcompact in 9mm, 12 + 1 147gr Golden Saber...+2 spare 16 round mags in pouch on support side...

Todays JHP bullets have little difference in terminal ballistics in a body between .45 and 9mm...I prefer to default to more rounds carried...It is first, last and always shot placement that ultimately stops the attack...And even a shot to the heart may allow the attacker a few seconds to continue...

An opponent can be on drugs (like our “Gentle Giant” apparently was), wearing body armor, or just a dedicated opponent...Impossible to tell...Doesn’t matter when you’re defending your life...

If drawing your weapon and pointing in at the attacker didn’t psychologically stop the attack, and shooting the attacker (multiple times to the body in the case of Michael Brown) didn’t physiologically stop his attack, then a third round to the head is indicated for a neurological stop...

That’s why 2 to the center of the chest failing to stop the fight should be followed by a third to the center of brain box...Looks like Officer Wilson may have been going for the neuro- stop after body shots failed...

All this nonsense we continually hear about “Why couldn’t he just shoot him in the leg? Why did he have to kill him?” is just that...Nonsense...

Top lip to eyebrow line...Practice head shots, folks!

I conceal a Glock 27. I like the size and the 10 rounds of .40, but the trigger and lack of manual safety limits its use.

I have several others , snyb .38 hammer less. Sig p220, and it really depends on what clothes I am wearing what I carry.

I would really like a small double stack .40 with DA/SA and a manual safety no more than 6.5 inches long.

A Sig and an HK come close, but the ones the same size as the Glock 27 also lack manual safeties -— or did last I checked.

I bought Airweight for my wife, but she prefers our heavier .38 because its weight makes it a more stable gun to fire. The Airweight has greater recoil and hurts her hand.
