R.I.P.
Australian
“Must live a sheltered life as Ive no clue who she is.”
Let me say this, unlike Lena Dunham, Stella Young is funny!
She was a local Australian comedian/actress/journalist/activist.
Not many people knew her outside Australia New Zealand.
Stella is the classic example of what welfare was intended. Someone unable to work and take care of themselves. Not a hip hop brooding sow living in the hood waiting for their EBT card to be reloaded.
Or was funny I should say. The good ones always die young.
I love this place.
No we don’t suffer from insanity here at Free Republic. We enjoy every moment of it.
Amen, Sister, amen. *Grinning*
Ditto.
RIP.
From her short stature, it looks like she had brittle bone disease.
I once met a gal with OI who looked very much like her, who worked as a truck dispatcher. Didn't need welfare. In every situation, insisted on finding some way to make a positive contribution.
Small on the outside. Huge on the inside.
And as much as possible, she avoided taking it. She had two university degrees under her belt which she took so she could work for a living - and she did. I didn't teach her myself, but I was a part time lecturer where she studied her second degree, and she was well known for not wanting any special treatment in any area not directly related to her medical needs.

There was a little girl I knew in the church I grew up in that had this same disease. She died in her 20’s. I was told to have lived that long was good for people with that disease. I some how suspect for Miss Young to live to be 32 means they are making medical advances because the little girl I knew died back in the early 90’s. Miss Young still died young if you will pardon the pun.
