Of every liberal, enemy agent, and other non-conservative person in this world whom I for the most part abhor, one person stands out whom I actually have a soft spot for. That, of course, is the infamous Iraqi Information Minister, colloquially known as "Baghdad Bob", during the start of the war in Iraq.
Ironically, every newscaster in the mainstream media in the United States has aspired to Bob's level of "substance" and have usually achieved such prominence, many actually surpassing Baghdad Bob's own rhetoric. To that end, one cannot really hate Baghdad Bob as much as one would like, as he was just one of the herd.
Nevertheless, many Americans, while wishing justified harsh consequences for regimes such as Hussein's (and their ministers), it should be noted that Baghdad Bob is on his deathbed. He gave an interview on Swedish TV.

I hear he’s in denial.
Robert Gibbs, Jay Carney and now Josh Earnest are deeply saddened and send their best wishes for a speedy recovery. Unlike Bob, they didn't lie with a gun to their head. |
Perhaps. But I doubt Baghdad Bob had knee-pads like these three.
And if any of you disagree, well, you’re a racist and a homophobe...
He’s lucky to have made it this far. Wasn’t he denying any US Mil presence when one of out tanks rolled by behind him? Or maybe a humvee or such? I’ll go check Utube...
If it’s true, we can rejoice that his soul has been redeemed.
Hahaha...THAT made me laugh!
His real name is Muhammad Saeed al-Sahhaf.
Then there was Tariq Aziz who though a Christian kept a muzzie moniker.
Hard to hate ol’ B-Bob, he had a truly thankless job & AFAIK didn’t commit any crimes against humanity. One rumor I heard over there was that he slipped out of Iraq & made his way to Cairo because he wanted to be surrounded by the beautiful women of Egypt.
Maybe a prayer is in order. B-Bob wasn’t a bad sort.
Do you think Bob had his talking points prepared? Or do you think he kinda just made it up on the fly?
I’m thinking he ad libbed. The higher ups probably just told him “we have to keep moral up. Don’t EVER admit that the army is getting their ass handed to them! The U.S. will never take Iraq!(or else)”. So he did. Make things up on the fly..
The great thing was, you could tell he didn’t believe what he was saying. But it just kept rolling out. Comic genius really. If it wasn’t so tragic. He did his best......and, especially under the circumstances, that was all anyone can ask for.
He claimed Saddam preferred to surround himself with Christians as their "leader" (Jesus Christ) commanded them to love one another as well as pray for their enemies and He died for them, not the other way around!
I bear him no ill-will. I hope his passing is as peaceful and painless as possible.
LOL!
Dunno why, I just thought it was funny too.
Had to read it again
LOL
He was a fine journalist. Lousy newsmsn, though.
Fine journalist.
I have a couple of conservative buddies, and when we discuss things that we know would libs on edge, when one of of states an obvious truth, the others will point and say “Racist! Bigot! Homophobe!”
The disturbing truth about the way liberals respond to truths they do not wish to hear and cannot refute is, in an odd way, absurdly funny. We laugh, but at the same time, sigh inside.
Anyway, that was what I thought of when I read that post of yours!
MSNBC would’ve snapped him up.
That’s too bad. I enjoyed his little “news” casts.
PING!
