Maybe Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel's rookie season will be remembered as a bump on the road to a great career, or as a sign that he was one of the most-hyped busts of this century.
Whichever, it's officially just a memory now.
The Browns have already ruled Manziel out of their Week 17 game because of a hamstring injury, meaning his season is over. Browns coach Mike Pettine said in his Monday press conference that the hamstring injury was "pretty significant" and would take several weeks to heal, according to Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal.

Welcome to theNFL now go home
He didn’t reach Ryan Leaf level of suck. That’s about the best that can be said, though.
It could have been raining.
Manziel was always going to be a project and was never worth a first round pick. BUT, if he sits on the bench a few years to learn from a seasoned vet and good QB coach he could turn out to be a decent NFL quarterback. Or not - we’ll see. The bottom line is that he was way overrated coming out of college and that hurt him.
Jerry Jones’s most brilliant personnel move was actually listening to his football people and not drafting Johnny Football. The Boys drafted a stud lineman instead.
How do you write an article like this and not even mention Brian Bosworth?
And so the soap opera ends, for now.
JaMarcus Russell? Statistically (fewest games played for ANY team, let alone the team who drafted him) the WORST PICK EVER!
Brian Hoyer isn't perfect. Heck, I don't even know if he's good. But he's a local boy who showed some promise and got some wins. A few of his losses were bad breaks. The Browns during them had a field goal kicker who can't kick and Josh Gordon probably messed up more than he helped his first few weeks back.
That's my take. It would be really nice to see the Browns rally around Hoyer, have a decent game plan, and win that last game. For the fans.
He only got the Heisman because the voters liked the novelty of voting for the first freshman to get it. There’s a reason why the Heisman has traditionally gone to upperclassmen.
As the Riggles skit on FOX’s pre-game show said, he can keep his stupid nickname but he must put quotes around the word “football”.
He got what he deserved for thinking that after 2 collegiate seasons, he was ready to play with the big boys. He’s a heck of a talent, but it’s wasted because of his immense ego. Ask anybody in Kerrville, they’ll tell you: Johnny loves Johnny, and nobody else.
He was fun to watch on Friday nights here in Kerrville and set a lot of records at A&M. Is his NFL career over?
Takes five to be an NFL QUARTERBACK....think Fran Tarketon
Well, they’re playing the Ravens, so I hope they win just to cause Baltimore additional grief.
Johnny Ca-ching has the heart and the nerve to play in the NFL but he’s not got the body to match. It is what it is.
Don’t the Ravens need this game?
Browns don’t.
It’s too bad he was hurt, but it’s only one game. I think he’ll develop into a winner.
Yes, the Ravens do need the win (and help from KC). All the more reason to see them suffer.
