A short video and lots of pictures at the link.

I must say that a lot of these women are not as hard looking as I thought they would be. And you can tell by the video and pictures that the Kurds treat their women well.

I think I just read over the last few days that the men who lost to these women were executed for losing.

It’s too bad that they don’t get more support from the U.S, because they’d make a great ally in the region. Obama isn’t interesting in making allies, however, and he’s sticking a knife in the back of the ones we already have.

We need more allies like these. We can actually rely upon and trust the Kurds.

“We can actually rely upon and trust the Kurds.”

Kurds are basically Iranians without the rabid Islamist strain (yet). They have been persecuted by all their neighbors, from Turks to Arabs. So, they do not see Islam as their identity, rather their race/ethnicity is their identity. But they are also Sunnis, so not sure how long the lovefest will last once Kurds become more dominant and Islam becomes their identity.

Granted the Kurds are Sunni Muslims like the Turks, but they have been helpful to us when we were in Iraq fighting on the ground. Their ethnicity seems to trump their Islamic religion.

To me we should have armed the Kurds, since we were pulling out, and let them try to establish their own country,Kurdistan.

However our leaders didn't want to do that because it would offend the Turks.

Big difference between Turks and Kurds and we should have realized it.

We are learning now, and should have known that the Turks are not our friends and they work against us in that region. - Tom

What I noticed is that none of these folks, male or female, display that arrogant snarl so typical of their coreligionists.

Their smiles makes them look like an extremely handsome and decent people.

There is a little too much posing and makeup wearing for me to believe these women are real peshmerga warriors. They are fighting for their lives, or so we’ve been told.

From 2004 till 2006 I was working for the military outside of Kirkuk, Iraq. Every morning 2 or 3 school buses arrived from outside our gate with about 200 Kurdish men and women, and from that group 10 were assigned to our unit to assist in whatever we needed...mostly physical labor. Out of 6 1/2 years in the Middle East, they were the most caring, hospitable, and gracious people I had ever met. One even told me he would gladly give his life for mine. I found a freelance journalist posting on a blog, that was trying to find out where the Kurdish came from . In desperation he took a DNA sample and took it to a lab to be read...he came back and said the professionals came back and said only one chromosome structure in the world like theirs....Jewish???????

One of the lost tribes of Israel?? No wonder they feel no allegiance to the Arab world....you don’t have to be around them very long to know there is something very different about them...I have to say that I came to love them very much.

I once worked with an Iranian and I mentioned how I walked up to a girl at LSU and was surprised that she was from Iran. I mentioned she looked as Caucasian as I did. That set him off. He proceeded to give me a quick history of Iran. He said they were Persians, were Caucasian, and had fought off the Roman legions. Then he said they had a stupid ruler who allowed them to be overrun by the Arabs who always try to breed out the native population after they conquer. He looked very much like an Arab and did not like it.
