I have to admit the 2nd or 3rd thought I had was will Obama use this to push for more spending in the SOTU?

What about Bill Clinton? He “promised” (he specifically used that word) to rebuild “all” of America’s infrastructure. “All” of it.

What about Bill Clinton? He promised (he specifically used that word) to rebuild all of Americas infrastructure. All of it. Imagine this in his voice " I wanted to, really, really wanted to rebuild all of America's infrastructure, but those mean spirited Republicans wouldn't let me spend the money". So you see he didn't break his promise, Republicans did and, hey, just by saying he was going to he did! In demonrat speak anyway.

He might say that, in fact he would say that, but during the Bush years there was an article about yearly allocations for highway funding. Congress makes those allocations every year and no president ever vetoes it. It's in the many hundreds of billions of dollars and has been every year of the Clinton, Bush, and I assume 0bama, administrations and who knows how many administrations before.
Our highways should all be solid gold and the bridges all titanium for all the money that has been allocated. Never mind Stimulus I Stimulus II and Porkulus I, II and III.

Twitter was reporting it was SB. Early reports are often wrong on facts.

The bridge was being demolished tonight.
Looks like a massive “OOPS!” got somebody killed.

I used to have to travel near Dayton. The first time, we flew to the airport in Florence, Ky. and had to cross that I-75 corridor/bridges. They are/were in horrible shape with at least one of them looking like the same failed construction method a one that collapsed near Minneapolis a few years back. From that point on, I refused to fly into Ky. and flew to Dayton instead.

Nicely timed, just as the push for raising the gas tax gathers momentum. Too bad they didn’t fully clear the area first, though.
