He spends his outdoor time in an enclosed dog run and has killed several rabbits that have had the misfortune to roam into his space ... a cat! Death looking for a place to happen.

Not necessarily. My JRT was death to lizards, but a mommy to kittens.

I keep the house cold so the cats will often get on top of the TV or the satellite receiver in the bedroom to adsorb warmth. I often see a cats face lit up by the light from the TV floating in the darkness like the Cheshire Cat. But once I cut the power and go to sleep they often end up in the bed by morning.

I love cats but I am allergic. Getting cat stuff, like petting a cat then touching my eye, makes my eye itch insanely, and the white of my eye swells up like gelatin. Rinsing my eye seriously in the shower is a cure, but it is still scary. My sister has the same allergy.

I married a woman that likes cats. Now I have two. One of them has “adopted” me. Sleeps by my head every night. Licks my hands so they are clean before I pet her. Takes up over half my side of the bed and I struggle to turn over at night, so as not to roll over on the cat.

She jumps on my desk and sits in front of the monitor when I am on the computer. When I want to use the scanner, she jumps on top of it so she can growl at the birds outside the window.

Despite all of this, it is calming to hear her purr when she gets up in bed next to me, licks my hands and lays down next to me. Never had cats before.

Becoming attached to them. Does that make me less a man?

I once had two male cats that didn’t get along, Mr. Bully and Mr. Bullied. One night Mr. Bullied took refuge on the window sill about four feet above my bed. Mr. Bully got up there and started inching closer and closer to him. Finally, Mr. Bullied couldn’t take it anymore and leaped (leapt?) across the room and square onto the middle of my chest. At 4am. From four feet up and six feet away. All 15 pounds of him. With claws fully extended. That’ll wake you up.

OUCH!

I hear ya. When my tomcat was a kitten he once missed a jump and ended up dangling by his claws...which were embedded in my thigh. It was a novel experience.

I’m 68, and have had cats since I was two. A house ain’t a home without a cat. My Mao comes to bed about 6am, curls up against me and purrs. Very relaxing!

Lol, owwie! And we all know kittens have especially sharp claws.

Cats: Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

As I was reminded.

Cats: Can’t live with them, can’t live without them.

I live with them. Sometimes, though, I wonder why. ;^)
