Pretty dumb alright, how do you catch a bad guy without a thorough description?
But, really their just catching up with what our lame stream media has been doing for awhile, especially since Ferguson.
Can you say "teenager or youth".

Let a white person attack a black person. They will be happy to mention race.

So keeping a segment of the population mollified is more important than warning the student body of a danger or catching the perpetrator? Okay, I’ve got it.

Moving forward, the University will use descriptions only when there is sufficient detail that would reasonably help identify specific individual suspects or groups of suspects [e.g., some combination of gender, race, clothing, So I trust they'll be okay with "a group of 50 African-American males in grey hoodies and baggy jeans" -- and not the generic "a group of teens".... right? Isn't that what this explanation says?

So they don’t really care if the students are actually “alerted” do they?

it will no longer include racial descriptors in crime alerts issued to students and faculty. for emotionalists,a narrative that makes them feel good inside or avoids making them feel bad is more important than reality

I think they would still say a group of youths in grey hoodies and baggy jeans.....total stupidity.

Moving forward, the University will use descriptions only when there is sufficient detail that would reasonably help identify specific individual suspects or groups of suspects So unless the 'University' deems that there is enough detail to make the description apply to just about anybody (i.e. not offend protected groups), they'll avoid any general characteristic that would significantly narrow the search down & lead to a resolution, such as sex or skin color. Yep, that'll work

This change supports our public safety goals while recognizing the harm that the use of race in crime alerts causes for some members of our community,
I've read very few sentences that are more bereft of reality. Just pathetic.

I see a potential STIGMA here
