House of Cards Season 3 has jumped the shark
03/01/2015

The first couple of seasons were pretty good. Now it's just an homage to FDR and a rant against Walmart.

When is Francis going to pay for all the crimes he committed getting to the White Hut?

At least not until Season 4.

Think I will read the books!

Be forewarned that the ending of the first book "The House of Cards" by Michael Dobbs (who was a cabinet minister under Margaret Thatcher) is VERY different from the ending of the first BBC TV series of the same name.

When I watched the uk version on pbs I remember the host saying the author did not like how the movie version was done. Apparently he sold the film rights to the bbc and wasn’t actively involved in the making of the movie series.

I am finishing up House of Cards season 2 and have just watched the episode where The VP, his wife, and the secret service man have a threesome.

Lord do we have to have these subplots that add nothing to the overall main plot of the show.

That just about jumped the shark for me right there.

I have watched 6 episodes of the 3rd season and it has just gone plain bad. British version made sense, but this is now just illogical and boring. Plot does not make sense any more and the well acted scenes showing the mannerisms of power plays are just more of the same that has been already shown plenty of times.

I watched 4 episodes and find in dull and unrealistic.

I watched the first episode of season 3 and it was bad. Sorry I am not interested in pervert Doug Stamper.

They needed to follow Michael Hobbs lead and end the madness of Frank Underwood.

I may just watch the original again, Ian Richardson chewed the scenery up as Francis and he was so malevolent when he would look at the camera to tell you what he was going to do next.

(semi-spoiler alert)

Just watched the episode (maybe #5?) that has idiot Clair making her impassioned idiot pro gay-rights speech, which she gave at the cost of completely torpedoing her husband in international affairs.

I turned it off.

I won’t be turning it back on.

We have enough real idiots in our real idiot administration. I don’t need to watch the dramatization of fictional idiots.

Too much emphasis on the First Lady. She is the most uninteresting character of them all.

I suspect that is because the former Mrs. Sean Penn took over writing and directing. She let all her inner-Communist wet-dreams run wild.

I thought this season was awful and dissatisfying. It’s also fallen deeper into absurdity.

I am sorry I am writing so late after everyone else, but I purposefully waited to read anything on House of Card Season 3 until I finished. Well I just finished and your post is accurate. This was the worst season to date. I mean NOTHING exciting except maybe the debate. But otherwise a total snooze fest. I am actually disappointed I watched because I always had a love for the show. The end was actually cool.....can’t stand the two of them....

Because we are grown ups and can separate a tv show from real life. I know some aren’t mature enough to do such a thing but 99 percent of us can. The first two seasons of House of Cards was incredible....3rd season....meh. Hopefully Season 4 will go back to its roots.

Frank’s jobs program is so annoying.

Funny but I thought that was the only worthwhile proposal and I thought it was rather Conservative Republican. Stop all entitlements and pay for jobs.......it actually would save us a ton of money in the long run......a TON!

Yes, well, and some of us, the one per centers I suppose, think it suicidal to reward our enemies.

I would hardly call Kevin Spacey an enemy. Lord talk about overblowing a disagreement with an actor......if he is even a liberal which we just guess.

Even the British version ran down. It was basically the same story all three seasons—the lead maneuvering and manipulating his way to the next job—with diminishing returns each time. You simply can’t sustain that premise, especially once he’s gotten to the top.

[Underwood] sidles up to the crucifix – just a few feet above his head – and mutters most cynically to God the Son. “Love…. that’s what you’re selling? Well, I don’t buy it!” Then he spits in the face of Christ. When he gets out a handkerchief to wipe off his offense, the whole thing shatters on the floor. He instructs the Secret Service to clean up his mess, and walks off with a ceramic ear. “Well, I’ve got God’s ear now,” he quips. You were saying?

Gay stuff took over...how about the book writer who was kind of gay in that he prostituted himself a few times? I got sick of his liberal mug quickly. Its as if the feminists and gays hijacked the shows writing

Best season House of Cards was the first
Same with Mad Men. The first season was the best and is worth watching

First seasons are always the best. They get a hit and then the writers leave for new challenges and they promote the second string to head writers.

Remember the implied threesome in the second season between Francis, Claire and some male character (who escapes me now)? Remembering that, I had a sick feeling there was going to be some degenerate activity between the irritating writer and FU.

There was no cohesiveness to this season, and no real underhandedness either.

The degeneracy was kept on the back burner for the first two seasons. Season three had degenerate gays protesting in Russia for a few episodes. Other degeneracies too which made it a crappy season. I am not going to look at Season four until I read spoiler type reviews. I won’t bother watching it if its more of season three type sludge. Which I bet it will be...

So a once good TV series goes rotten and unwatchable
