Share prices dropping now, wait until the law suits come rolling in for those affected medically by the formaldehyde contained in their Chinese flooring.

On another note: It was reported the other day that 85% of the vaccines sold in America are now made in China. Thank you US government.

Wasn’t there a similar stink a couple of years ago concerning formaldehyde in Chinese-made drywall?

Moving your manufacturing base to China = Corporate suicide

When will they ever learn?

Meryl Streep and Alar (60-minutes, also).

Damaged apple growers significantly.

Growers brought suit, but case was moved from Yakima to Spokane (as I recall), and they lost.

So I hold back judgement on anything 60-Minutes says. Actually, “Don’t Trust, wait for verification.”

Scratching my head over the formaldehyde hysteria. Particle board and MDF both use substantial amounts, and they are the primary materials used in a fair amount of laminated/veneered furniture.

Don’t worry radon neutralizes formaldehyde.

laminate flooring

The key word here is "laminate", also know as cheap crap in most wood applications.

Regarding compliance with California regulations, I recently bought some new wood furniture and it included a statement in a drawer that said "This product contains wood dust, a known carcinogen in the State of California." Yeah, wood dust.

It's pretty much impossible to comply with all their crazy rules out there so you do the best you can (or you cheat). The problem is, since their market is so large manufacturers are forcing everyone else in sane states to pay for all the extra stuff and labeling that they need to do for California. I cannot wait for the day when they all start saying "to heck with it, I'm not selling there" and cutting back on all the crap.

But of course then the feds will come in on a commerce clause ruling and demand that they comply with California rules whether they sell there or not, in the name of fairness. A sort of anti dog-eat-dog rule.

Formaldehyde is for baby formula and dog food. Not flooring. This is China for cryin' outloud. And as for the trustworthiness of news magazines. This image may refresh some memories...

First of all Laminate flooring is not good stuff no matter how it is made. Not compared to actual wood or ceramic or porcelain tile or quarry tile etc.

It is cheap flooring made cheaply.

But if you are the type that wants to change your floors constantly to redecorate then yeah it will work. But it is not made for the long haul.

And building materials made in China is a game of craps at best.

The fact that the USA imports any wood products is astoundingly stupid and inconceivable.
