I notice 40s, 50s, and 60s across the northern US today. So quit yer whinin' and bellyachin', clear the remaining snow off the ball diamonds, set some sod, lay in some hot dogs, crank up your "hope springs eternal" attitudes, follow closely the last three weeks of spring training, and get ready to
65 degrees here in North Idaho today. Unbelievable.
VA went from 0 - 60 in one day.

Mebbe so, but not for me here in sunny SoCal. It’s been 70s and 80s for weeks here.
But it's been so cold lately I don't know whether I'll get out for a game anytime soon.
Hell, it was 80 deg yesterday.

UP here in the UP of Michigan 55 degrees, snow is melting. Ground is so frozen that the puddles are getting deep. I do not plan for this to last long, snow will com back soon enough.
Actually, we could have winter around here till May. It's not global warming or climate change. It's normal. It's just that this has been one lousy winter and I've had enough.
It’s been an amazing transformation over the past three or four days. Just got the last fuel oil delivery of the season (under $400) and after that month-plus long run of lows (20 below to 20 above, with most days running between zero and 10 above) and the piles of snow going nowhere, suddenly we are showing open (dormant) grass, and some of the rough and tough greens are poking up.
Had an amputee veteran try out for the Tigers the other day.

Even in the coldest, darkest winters, there is a waft of warm air that smells of spring. Then you hear the crack of bats, the sound of the ball hitting the glove. There is nothing like the first indications that baseball is back to warm the heart, and think that, maybe, for a brief few moments, all is right with the world.
