Still, Mr. Lane underscored the advantage Mr. Cruz has with some evangelicals. Asked about the Texas senator’s faith, he responded, “Cruz is obviously born again and goes to First Baptist Houston.”

This is just another big Plus for Cruz. I don’t think we can afford to have anyone leading us who is not a Christian. It has not worked out well for the last six years.

Being a militant atheist troll has everything to do with you trying to hijack this Cruz thread.

You have to make a judgement call as to whether the person may be lying or not, but if you do your due diligence on information about the person you can tell whether they are lying in regards to that. Some people may lie better than others, but that doesn’t mean that we simply discard trying to tell if people are lying about things.

I’ve had others tell me that they’re saved, but with a little investigation (usually a few questions) I can sometimes see that they have no idea who Jesus is or what being saved is. They may even think they are telling the truth, but you know they are totally misled.

People do stuff like this ALL DAY LONG about all sorts of things, not just salvation ... :-) ... it’s nothing new.

Doesn’t matter to me. I am voting for my President, not my pastor.

Not understanding the troll comment. Suit yourself I guess. It’s ok to admit one discriminates based on religion. I would actively discriminate against a Muslim candidate. So what.

Anyone can claim to be a born again Christian.
Anyone.

http://www.patheos.com/blogs/thedudeabides/obama-on-faith-the-exclusive-interview/

...OBAMA:

I am a Christian.

So, I have a deep faith. So I draw from the Christian faith...

...So I joined that church and committed myself to Christ in that church.

GG:

Did you actually go up for an altar call?

OBAMA:

Yes. Absolutely...

Is there anything I could say to convince you I’d vote for Cruz in a second? I don’t care if he’s born again. Don’t care if he’s Catholic. Would care quite a bit if he were Muslim. Some Freepers care a bit more about their particular brand of Christianity. That is my observation after 14 years reading this site. You may feel differently.

Why, as a militant atheist, are you so determined to hijack this Cruz thread into a theological discussion between Protestants and Catholics?

Your behavior is that of a troll.

Is that what you think this Southern Baptist conservative son, of a Southern Baptist minister who campaigns for him, is doing?

Yup. Pretty much anyone but Muslims. Throw in Scientology too. Not getting my vote either.

So would you vote for a Muslim? Answer honestly.

Is there a Muslim out there who would a) govern conservatively, b) govern effectively & c) do it while not trying be the nation's imam or commit jihad?

I strongly doubt it, so the answer is "no". (Leaving aside any number of policy areas I consider crucial/deal breakers for my vote that apply to any/all candidates).

If they’re baptized, they’re born again of water and the Spirit.

If they don't have saving faith, they weren't baptized, they just got wet (no matter what the preacher called it.)

Really?

You post “Anyone can claim to be a born again Christian.
Anyone.” on a Cruz thread about him being born again.

And I ask you “Is that what you think this Southern Baptist conservative son, of a Southern Baptist minister who campaigns for him, is doing?”

And you have no idea what my question is about?

It makes a big difference.

Atheists in charge of the Soviet Union, China, Romania, Cambodia, shows what happens to a country when you deny God.

Even if you don’t believe the words of the Creator of the universe, history shows that Christian nations are much better to live in than Communist countries.

So he learned about Jesus Christ from Rev Wright? RIIIIGHT!
No one listening to that man for 20 years was exposed to true Christian teachings.

NOTHING this man does demonstrates a relationship with Christ. It would be interesting to know how many times he has actually attended a church service during his time in office.

He has also mentioned his “Muslim faith” in an interview. That seems to be where his allegiance lies in policy making. He can’t bring himself to acknowledge any connection between Islam and terrorism.

Frankly, I won’t be surprised if he brings the prayer rug out of the closet when he leaves office.

The point is that when someone is fishing for votes, their words can be dismissed. What counts is their behavior and record, and then background and associates.

As long as he’s not a Muslim I don’t care what flavor of Christian Ted Cruz is.

And those posting such tripe on FreeRepublic are usually those that support candidates like Mitt Romney who supports Abortion

You had a choice between Mitt Romney and Barack Obama. I'll take your word that Romney supports abortion and gay agenda. So does Obama.

So what do you do? You attack Romney. Obama wins, and we end up with a big mess in everything that Obama has touched.

Democrats win by advancing the ball a few yards at a time. Eventually they get where they are going . Single issue voters want either everything or nothing, right away. And they discourage others by posting divisive messages against other that mostly agree with them.
